| ![]() Congratulations! Was the show in Florida? Good luck today! Slyvia - no one knows how long it will take. It depends on how many are in going against you in the ring. To get a major you need the competition. She will need a total of 15 points and must get the points from at least three different judges. Go Buster! ![]() Big shows - you mean the Specialities? T. |

The other little male that I have Dixie is waiting in the wings. I had not fely he was nice enough to show and Peggy(Handler) wants to give him a try after Buster is finished. Angel our puppy bitch will go out as soon as Peggy finishes a adult female that just needs a major. She would like to special Buster and show Dixie in the open classes at the same time. Just a dream but we will see. She also intends to take the guys to the International shows this fall or next spring. She feels that both of the guys can meet the requiements for their international titles. Some one asked aout becoming a CH. There is no time limit-it just depends on how long it takes to get the required number of points as listed under the AKC rules. Points are determined by the number of males and females of the breed at the show. There can be a 3 point major for one sex and not the other. If you win and there is no major in your sex and you go Best of Winners and BOB the Judge can award you the higher points from the other sex. You have to aquire 15 points including 2 majors won under different judges and at least one point won undera third different judge. Right now it requires 8 females for a 3 point major and 7 males for a three point major. It may not seem like a lot- but sometimes it is hard to get all those yorkies there. As my Hubby says my part is to write the checks.

| ![]() I've been checking the show results on the Internet lately and there just doesn't seem to be that many dogs there (show up) to get those majors lately. Do you think it is the weather? Bummer. It is hard getting those single points, not to mention expensive. Say 22. entry fee, travel time, gas, hotel, food, plus handling charges but at least then you can split cost with the others she shows. But it is so much fun showing - exciting especially if you win. Well, congratulations and continue good luck. ![]() T. |

| ![]() Yea, for some reason the yorkies aren't showing up at the shows. I just wrote Kathy about it. At the Michigan show here 2 weeks ago, there was only one handler, and I think it was Kathys! There were no more yorkies at all ![]()

It has been a long used practice to pad with several dogs if you can not get the points. Handlers and well known owners have done it for years. It can backfire on you and you lose too. My handler only takes one dog or one bitch out at a time for a client. She plays pretty fair. Tha answer on the cost to show. You have the entry fee which can run 15-25.00 per show depending on the class. The handler will charge you for daily board and the fee for gas and other travel related expenses. Handlers can be very expensive on a average many are 50.00 to 75.00 per show and up for big time handlers. They charge you each time that dog goes into the ring. You may pay $50.00 for the handler to show your baby in the puppy class and if he wins and you go back to fight out with the other male/female winners you pay another fee set by the handler cause he went back in the ring with the dog a second time. If he/she wins and you go in for breed you may have a third fee for the handler. It can be very expensive by the end of the weekend. To me it is cheaper to have the handler show Buster at this time. It is nice when you win, but you still have to be positive when you loose and not become discouraged.
