I am lucky that the handler that I have lives about two hours from home. Buster stays home with me unless we have shows that are several weeks in a row. If he has anytime off he comes home to me. Our Goal is to have him finished by next spring. If he continues to improve as he gets older ( he just turned a year last month) we may decide to special him. I have seen too many that were nice as youngsters and I did not like as an adult.
The other little male that I have Dixie is waiting in the wings. I had not fely he was nice enough to show and Peggy(Handler) wants to give him a try after Buster is finished. Angel our puppy bitch will go out as soon as Peggy finishes a adult female that just needs a major. She would like to special Buster and show Dixie in the open classes at the same time. Just a dream but we will see.
She also intends to take the guys to the International shows this fall or next spring. She feels that both of the guys can meet the requiements for their international titles.
Some one asked aout becoming a CH. There is no time limit-it just depends on how long it takes to get the required number of points as listed under the AKC rules. Points are determined by the number of males and females of the breed at the show. There can be a 3 point major for one sex and not the other. If you win and there is no major in your sex and you go Best of Winners and BOB the Judge can award you the higher points from the other sex. You have to aquire 15 points including 2 majors won under different judges and at least one point won undera third different judge. Right now it requires 8 females for a 3 point major and 7 males for a three point major. It may not seem like a lot- but sometimes it is hard to get all those yorkies there.
As my Hubby says my part is to write the checks.
