| You should have told her she doesn't have a tea cup, because a tea cup is something you drink out of. What you have is a tiny baby, and walked away. Some people are so ignorant. |

| I was told that my guy wouldn't weigh more than 5 pounds. Today he is full grown and weighs 10 pounds. I couldn't love him anymore! It's ridiculous to want your fur baby to be one "perfect" size. |

| Many are misinformed about the term Tea Cup but what's wrong with wanting a small dog? When I wanted a big dog, I had Irish Setters. Now I want a small dog so I got a Yorkie. Shame on me? I didn't go to Internet Tea Cup brokers and I did my research. But I still hope my dog is on the small side. Does that make me a bad person? I would NEVER imply that my dog is better b/c it's small and I will laugh if someone with a 2lb. dog implies mine is big. But who cares? Of course I will still love my dog if she gets bigger than the 4lbs. I can easily carry. I just won't be able to take her with me as much. (so I hope you don't wish for her to be 15lbs. b/c she hates staying home!) I too am against the trend to get a tiny dog as if it's an accessory BUT not everyone that wants a small one is doing that. Small is more portible and for some of us that is one of the reasons we chose this breed. Now, explain to me why ANYONE would want a Great Dane. |

| I don't think anyone thinks it is wrong to want a small dog. I have a small one too. It is the attitude sometimes of some people who have them who think their "teacup" is better than someone elses dog. They probably feel this way because they paid more for their dog. I have came across someone with this attitude myself. Not everyone who owns little yorkies are like that.

You are right there is nothing wrong with wanting a small dog, but when the breed to very small like 3lb or less you start running up the chances of serious heath risks. Linus is about 3 lbs but really wish he was about double that!

| This just makes me sad. Rika was 2lbs at 6 weeks old and I knew she was gonna be big, and even though I'd wanted a smaller dog back then, I wouldn't trade Rika for the world now. I love her size and everything else about her. I wouldn't have cared if she grew to 70lbs. I'd still love her. I really just don't understand the "teacup" fad.

I just think it's wrong when people don't know much about the breed of dog they just purchased! I also think it's wrong to think a small yorkie is BETTER than a big one. That's all! Actually our breeder told us Esme was going to be around 5lbs, which is her mom's size. She grew to be larger and we still love her. It wouldn't matter if she grew to be twice the size she is now. I would still pick her up and carry her to Blockbuster with me! And actually, my husband wants a Great Dane! He says he wishes we had a house with a big enough yard! He LOVES those dogs!

| I know exactly how you feel. My internet has been down for about a month, It just came back on recently. A few weeks ago, my step-brother came into twon and brought his girlfriend. He came to see his grandfather who was sick in the hospital recovering from major surgery. Anyways, his girlfriend found out that our dogs were Yorkies and she asked "Are they teacup?" We politely answered no, and fortunately, I didn't blow up at her about "teacups". A little bit after that incident, my mom and I were walking TJ and Riley down a street and a man was in his yard. He was across the street and he asked us what kind of dogs we had. We told him Yorkies. He was like "My sister just got a teacup Yorkie" I was so fed up. Luckily, I didn't say anything to him, but it is so amazing how many people get fooled by breeders and the media. |

If I ever run into this kind of comment I will be honest. I will tell the Tea Cup bragger that I really wanted a tiny dog too but found it was a LOT of work to find a reputable breeder that had a healthy tiny female.

| is that a lot of these folks are purchasing yorkies and chihuahuas because they are small and right now, thanks to some celebrities it is "In" to have a pocket pup. This has happened in the past, when 101 Dalmatians came out, everyone went to get one, when a movie or TV show has a great dog on it, everyone wants to know the breed and they go get one, then when the fad wears off, these babies are often abandoned and turned into rescue or shelters. Secondly, I foresee a lot of thrown away yorkies in our future, once they grow past the teeny size that these unscrupulous breeders promise and should not, and they see how difficult most yorkies are to housebreak, they will be tossed aside. I can almost promise you that small dogs will hit record numbers in shelters and rescues within the next two years. It happened with the Taco Bell dog, and the dalmatians and it will happen again. The only thing that could be good to come out of this, is sincere folks that cannot afford a yorkie may be able to get one if they are willing to forego the puppy stage and accept a yorkie that may have some issues. So if you are looking for a yorkie and cannot afford one, or looking to add one to your family of furbabies, be patient, when they become yesterdays in thing, there will more than enough to go around. Makes me sick, my boys are so important to me, that I have actually named a guardian in my will and have made arrangements for part of my life insurance to be set up in trust for their care. My family think that I am totally nuts, and I am. Nuts about my boys. |

Hell...thats the sanest thing I've heard! Why wouldn't you want to make sure that your "babies" are provided for and at least know they won't be suffering some unknown fate when you are gone. I'd do it too! The world would be a far better place if there were more "crazy" people like you... Francie
