i'm sorry i'm not much help but i can say this..

it seems you have little knowledge about this LP,
maybe it was something you should have researched before you purchased the baby?
i know that $300 probably made up your mind for you.
i'm not judging you at all, i think taking in a pet with needs is very special.
however, its not impossible to find inexpensive healthy babies for that low price.
sophie was $400, and healthy as can be

it didn't come from you at all. it was suggested in post number three copied and pasted below that you might tell the breeder of the costs involved and ask for some help with it.. Also, I am sure that the breeder being familiar with LP knew it would cost a lot to fix it. that is why she was so much cheaper.

You may want to call them back and explain the LP cost and that she is having the surgery and you were hoping to be refunded or partially refunded to use that towards the cost of the LP surgery.

Except this one.....I dont think that I would bother with letting the breeder know the cost....she knows the cost.....that is why the puppy was cheap....and its ok....she can be fixed....and loved...

I think it is wonderful that you took this baby knowing she would need surgery. If that is her in your avatar, she is adorable. Sorry, I don't know anything about LP but it seems from what I have heard that after the surgery she should be fine. Hopefully those with more experience can tell you more. I just want to welcome you to YT! Can't wait to see pics of your little angel. What's her name? I don't know about breeders but with rescues we charge an adoption fee because we have to know without question that the Yorkie will be cared for and loved for the rest of it's life, regardless of the problems it has. When someone has already invested $$, we can be pretty sure they will give this precious little soul anything it needs. We try to know every single problem or medical issue there may be so we can let the new family know everything we have learned. We are not afforded that same courtesy by those who surrender the babies to us! I believe the breeder was very honest and up front about your baby. LP is a common genetic problem with Yorkies and can be repaired. God bless you for taking a chance on this precious baby and I look forward to watching her grow and mature in your loving care. Please update us when she has her surgery.

Well I am * the post #3 * and it was just a suggestion b/c I really wasn't sure what she was asking since she mentioned the $300 and LP surgery being expensive....

I just went back and re-read what she wrote, I think she wanted to make sure that she did the right thing by purchasing an LP dog, and that she is going to have surgery for her and wants to know if she will have a good quality of life? Is that correct? If so, then refer to * my post #12 *

They were upstanding in that they told you about the LP. The only thing I would question is why it is that she was all skin and bones. That's a little upsetting. I hope it all works out for you and her. Elaine

Issues with the joint(patella) in the leg..... vet can feel for it ...may slip......do a goggle....I did....
