I think people need to be educated on the fact of who gave Hunte Corporation a Grant also look up the Hunte Corporation (puppymill)
You will be SHOCKED and hopefully you will realize why so many of us are not happy with the government laws right now concerning dogs.
After you have researched this info be sure to pass this info to everyone you talk to.
It is a shame!

Pet Smart sells birds. Bird mills are just as bad as puppymills only there isn't as much press on them. Petco sells birds, ferrets, mice, guinee pigs and other small animals. Petsmart does however keep rescued cats there and adopts them out and they allow rescues to come in and set up to adopt out.

As someone that has a Cocktoo that owns me I'm not thrilled to see these birds or any parrot for that matter locked in a cage with no interaction, especially knowing they come from bird mills but sadly it is almost impossible to find any pet store that does not sell some kind of live creature.

I do stay away from pet stores that sell puppies and I try to avoid those that sell parrots as well, but then you have those that love reptiles that may say there is no difference and you should shop in any that sell live creatures period. The problem is finding one that don't. It's hard.

The birds/parrots they have come from bird mills which are equivalent to a puppymill. The cats I believe are kept there for rescues and are handled strictly by the rescues. I hate to see the cats in cages but they are there to be adopted so in away there is something good coming out of that. The birds kill me because I know where they come from. Also, both Petsmart and Petco move the birds around a lot. If they do not sell at one store they move them to another and often these beautiful tame hand fed babies become unsaleable. It's really a shame.

I'm not in favor of laws being passed without careful consideration because you are absolutely right, some of these laws will harm the good breeder more than the puppymill breeder. I remember Joey's breeder telling me about them trying to pass laws that wouldn't allow her to keep her dogs in the house, they would have to be contained in a separate building, but the law was disguised as something else.

I thought this was more of a "pledge" than a law. As Captain Jack Sparrow would say when referring to the pirate code “more a set of guidelines.”

Just because their is dogs on the internet for sale.... does not mean that there is some good BREEDERS that really do have awesome in home, clean breeding programs. They do NOT OVER BREED. The buyer needs to do the homework, read and visit. I just do not care for the wording. I do think that all responsible pet owners should spay and neater pets. WE NEED TO STOP PUPPY MILLS !!!!! But we do not want to force the dog market underground and cause a supply and demand issue(Black Market). Then these greedy mills will just have a hay day---make even more $$$$$ underground.
