| Our new three legged Yorkie! About a month ago we ran into Winston’s and Maggie’s trainer, in her other life she is a county prosecutor and she also does dog rescues. She said that she was just thinking about us because they just rescued 35 dogs, most of the dogs are Yorkie and one tiny one has 3 legs. I told her to keep me posted. My husband was totally freaking out because we already have Winston and Maggie. So I told him that it doesn’t mean anything yet. The owner has to be prosecuted and the dogs have to be surrendered. Not only that, the County Vet has to give clean bill of health in order for the dogs to be adopted. Well yesterday, I got into work and found an email from Nicole that the little girl is ready for me. Here is Maemi. She is very tiny.... all skin and bones (maybe 3.5 lbs). The people at the Shelter didn't have much information on her. All they know is that she was rescued from a single wide along with 34 other dogs. She was very sick when she got at the shelter in November. Her hair was totally matted and dirty as you can expect. The lady at the Shelter kind of cut off most of her matted hair. She was probably born with 3 legs, she get around fine and really doesn't look like she misses her 4th leg. She had no name, folks at the shelter called her tripod. At the beginning she was not use to being picked up or being around people but she bonded with one of the ladies at the shelter. When I first picked her up she froze but she warmed up to the idea. I tried to give her a treat but she doesn't know what it is. It really breaks my heart. The whole drive home from the shelter she didn't take her eyes off me. We really didn't know what we were going to do with 3 dogs and was thinking that maybe we'd only be foster parents. Her eyes really got to me and I don't think I can give this little girl away. She is here to stay. She is never going to be mistreated again. I named her “Maemi”, its Japanese and it means "honest child, smile of truth, ten thousand blessings and beauty". She is very sweet, loves for me to hold her. She is getting friendly with Robert. So far, Winston and Maggie are very curious about her but we are still separating them. Maemi is going to our Vet on Saturday; she just got spayed so the stitches need to come out. We also want our Vet to double check her before we let the kids mingle. Wish us luck that all three kids will get along.

| I really feel like I am dreaming, I never thought I'd have 3 dogs. Maemi looks so much better than when I got her. Poor baby had matted, dull, dirty hair. Her ears were dirty and her poor eyes just water stained. She really looked like a drown rat/bat combo. She was an angel, letting me wash, dry, groom her. She's loved so much already!

| I watch Animal Precinct quite often, and my boyfriend always questions why I would even watch a program that shows animals being nelected and abused. I told him that I watch for the happy endings. He thought watching 40 minutes of grief for 20 minutes of happiness is not worth it. I replied "It is to me!". You have a great heart, and I feel so happy for the new member of your family and how much joy you will bring in each other's lives. |
