| Yorkies hair color? Hello, I am new to the Yorkie Community. I have just got a little female Yorkie for Valentines day from my husband. Her hair is dark now but I was wondering how long does it take for the dark hair to go away and new lighter hair to come in. She is the first Yorkie I have ever had so I am learning about this breed. I got a chihuahua 3 years ago and her and the Yorkie get along fabulous. Hello to all!!!!!! Amy |

| Welcome to YT! Yorkies are the best. I couldn't imagine having any other breed. It is fun when you are first learning about the breed and their history. To me, it has always been interesting.

Hi welcome to YT. Wow, what a neat gift for Valentines Day. I got Joey at 12 weeks and already the roots of his head were grey, before long it kind of looked like he was bald in places because the jet-black hair intermingled with the grey. Finally, the head was all grey; it's so funny though, because when he changed to a golden color, it didn't seem like it happen at the roots. I know this doesn't make sense, but it's just like one day I noticed the top of his head was a tan or light gold not grey anymore. I think this happened about 1 year of age. If your puppy has no grey roots they probably will turn a darker golden.

| Hi Amy and welcome to YT!! This is the best site for info and everyone is so helpful. I don't get on as much as I would like!! My furbaby Addie will be 1 in May and her head is changing to more grey. Her body is still black, she has not changed to me as much as I have read. I will start paying attention now, heehee.
