At the risk of starting something here, a biewer is not recognized by AKC is it? What extactly makes a beiwer? I mean they must be a mix of something right? Just curious is all.

but the yorkie can be improved with the biewer bloodline.. just my opinion, and i do live in a free country...

I had a shih tzu(I love them too by the way and have one now)..I bred her one time years ago and she wouldn't take a shih tzu, so bred her to a poodle..they were the sweetest most loveable pups ever..My mom got one of them, and he just died last year at 15 1/2 years old..so, really don't understand why the comment on a shih tzu..

Linda...the biewer supposedly came from 2 yorkshire terriers, but, dna testings are showing some other breeds in them..some aren't, but, some are..

While I agree some Biewers might be mixed from unethical breeders (I saw one in California at a show) the majority of Biewer breeders do not agree with this test. The Biewers did not start in the continental US and they have a relatively small gene pool at this time.

We have received your inquiry about using Wisdom Panel MX for your dog.

The Wisdom Panel MX test is specifically designed to look for the combination of ancestral breeds in mixed breed dogs. Where pure breed dogs are concerned, most often the report will simply indicate the pure strain of the breed in question. However, although our sample base covers over 130 breeds and comprises more than 13,000 samples in total, there are several cases in which pure breed dogs can slip through our net. For instance, if the breed is not or was not bred within the continental US, then we may not pick up the breed signature. In addition, if there has been a very isolated breeding line for the pure breed, then we may not have enough coverage of that breed's gene pool to pick the correct answer.

For these reasons, we do not advertise the Wisdom Panel as a test for confirming the purity of a purebred dog. This is due to the fact that the Wisdom Panel MX is designed to find multiple breeds in an analysis, under the assumption that the dog it is testing has more than one breed in its mix.

But you cannot reg with AKC correct?

At this point and time this is correct. It is a long process to get a new breed recognized with AKC through FSS.

If you do a search on YT and type in Biewer there are lots of threads that explain what they are.

What gets me is that she came on a YORKIE site and admits all of this. Then says I would not change a thing about the Shih-tzu but she wants to change or improve the YORKIE!!! You have got to be kidding me. What a joke.
