| ![]() my bf has a pit (100+lbs) and a rat terrier (about 8 lbs) and before the terrier a little chi... and they all live fine , they have run of the house all day long... and they have not have any problems at all... if the pit is trained and well behaved with good temperament and such then i wouldn't see the prob. like someone said above, it's about when they play and such like her rottie, that'd be the reason i'd keep them separate when not at home... but please don't condemn a breed for bad/irresponsible owners... remember we get upset with the "teacup" term in the media... turn the tables around, it is very upsetting to see all these "bad" dogs in the media, when it is truly an issue of irresponsibility... no dog is inherently bad or good, they want to please, and they do what they are taught... just my .02... sorry it's so long

Hmmmmmm . . . . sorry . . . . don't agree . . . . some pit bulls that have always been great dogs suddenly turn into killers. And that's a proven fact, no matter how many you know that are sweet and gentle. It isn't worth the risk to put them around small dogs and wait and see if or when they will be a problem. I agree it isn't fair to condemn all pit bulls because of what some of them do, but I would never take a chance with one of them under any circumstances. You can't blame the media for reporting the facts and getting upset about a pit bull that kills isn't quite like getting upset because someone calls a tiny Yorkie a teacup. | |

| ![]() Ok, I have been extremely fearful of pits due to an attack on a friend when I was younger. I admit alot of it is the owners but so many of the lines have been bred to fight you never know. I have a best friend whose brother had one that was supposedly the sweetest thing EVER! I also had a uncle w/ a pit and a sharpai that were supposedly so sweet. All the dogs had to be put down due to attacks on the owners or their family .... some later in life but all had to do it! The turn... it is their nature. I so wanted to rub it in their faces since they made fun of me for staying locked in a room so the dog couldln't get near me! |

| ![]() my brother has a pit bull and I have never been around it when he wasnt there but i guess the dog growled at my dad but my dad showed no fear to the dog and he completely backed down from my dad. Now the dog was in the backyard which was fenced in and i had Jasmine on her harness and leash so I walked by the fence with her to see what she would do and she showed her teeth to him and he cowarded down and went in a corner, it was weird but my personal opinion I wouldn't trust a pit bull and it might be becuase I'm uneducated with them but I've just heard to many horror stories, I'm sorry but if Jasmine was to do something I highly doubt she could send you the the hospital but that's just my 2 cents. I hope you find the right decision to make.

| ![]() most of the time you can tell by the dog's change in behavior, etc, these are known be loyal dogs... like someone above said, it's not the same if a yorkie, poodle or chi snap as opposed to a rottie, pit, german shepherd, etc... but a lot of it has to do wiith how they are trained, these dogs need a lot of exercise, etc...i am not denying that things like that happen, but the media tends to exaggerate things with anything...
