| Dew Claw growing back? I was trimming Myah's nails....not a fun thing to do with a 15 week old pup. Anyway, I found a very small nail where her dew claw was. I am thinking it grew back, if that is possible. She goes to the vet on Monday for shots and I'll have him look at it, but anyone know if it should be removed or if it can? Will she need to go under for it? I'm not sure when we'll have her spayed because she is so tiny. I can't get close enough to be able to trim it, so I don't know what to do with it. Any thoughts? |

| My pup Rusty has had a dew claw grow back. There are normally taken off when a few days old. To remove it later involves surgery and being put under as it is very painful. I do plan on having it removed next time he goes in for surgery.

| More than likely the vet can't just "snip" it off... I would just leave it.

| Apollo had one that grew back and it was so close to his skin, so when he was neuterd i had it taken off, he was on pain meds for 5 days , and it did not seem to bother him. I was afraid it would grow into his skin or torn off. My Daughters dog tore one off and i know she was in alot of pain.

| The other day I noticed a sort of fragment of nail too where her dew claws would have been. I asked her groomer about it, and she noticed it too. She said she can't say it may or may not grow back, she can't say for certain. I'm not sure if I want to get it removed when she's spayed or if it's too painful for them at that age.

| Teddi had one that grew back. When they removed her teeth they took it off. It was no big deal. It was kind of just dangling and was small.
