| ![]() I lost Pippa for 24 hours once. It was the most devastating thing. My daughter forgot to lock the front door on her way out to school and she was the last one out. A thunderstorm rolled in that afternoon and blew the door open and Pippa ran out. My husband came home from work and found the door open and Pippa gone. He called me at work and I could barely drive home I was crying so hard. All the kid's friends and our whole family went out looking for her for hours, giving people pictures of her with our number on the back. I had lost posters made within a few hours and had them posted everywhere on campus (we lived near a University). I just knew some college co-ed picked up little Pippa and kept her. Anyway, it rained all night and I was up all night looking out the door for her. I could not even function I was so devastated. We called the animal shelter numerous times to see if she showed up. The next day I had a call from an English professor who said he found a little "black back" yorkie and called the shelter. Of course they knew just who she belonged to and gave him my number. It was a joyous reunion and I can tell you, we are so careful now with our two! A really cool thing that happened (after I had been feeling so accusatory toward college kids..hehe) is that about 10 or 15 college kids called me to say they had seen the lost poster and the english professor had put up a found poster in the building, so they put two and two together and called to let me know. There are actually good people in the world!
