| ![]() Hello We just got out first Yorkie. He is 9 weeks old and a hand full. My wife and I both work and we have to leave him at home by himself. He is sooooo excited when we get back and he hates to be alone. Everytime we put him back in the bathroom for the day he knows whats happening and fights it tooth and nail. At night he cry's and moans because we put him back in the bathroom for the night and it's very hard for us to hear him cry. Should we continue to ignore the cry's so he gets used to it or what? It seems the Yorkie's love attention and people and we just want him to be happy. At the same time we don't want him to think he's got us wrapped around his paw and can do whatever he wants. So what do we do? Any help would be appreciated. |

| ![]() Hi and welcome to YT! Hubby and I put Little Man in the bathroom at night too when we first got him. We put a clock in there with him. The ticking of the clock helps soothes them. Also, put a piece of clothing that has your smell on it in there with your baby. Any and all toys do help while he's in there. That's all I got for ya. I'm sure some of the others can tell ya what else to do that will help ya out. Good luck and enjoy your new baby!

| ![]() Welcome to YT! ![]() ![]() This is what we did, and it worked for us. It might not work for you or anyone else. We put Gizmo in a playpen right beside our bed. I could reach over and comfort him in the night if I needed to, and I could easily tell if he needed out during the night. We also left a scanner radio on low as background noise. I loved waking up and seeing his sweet little face every morning. ![]() And what's wrong with being wrapped around a yorkie's paw? Aren't we all to some extent? LOL! ![]()

| ![]() This is what I do , I also work 8 hrs a day. I have him in a crate m the xs size. This also helps with potty training as he doesnt want to lay in his own, you know what. When i get home hes so excited and we go out back and go to the bathroom. I also put him in his crate when i go to bed, im lucky he whined for the first night and that was it. I also had to wake up a few times in the first couple of weeks to let him out to potty. Was pretty tired that week or 2.

| ![]() You are right, they love attention and being with their family. You must leave him alone while you're at work but why not try putting him in the room with you at night? He wants to be near you. Giving in on this won't spoil him. Like Judy, I love seeing Gus' face pop up from his xpen every morning. ![]()

| ![]() I sometimes let Ziggy sleep in the bed, sometimes hes too wound up. I tried putting the crate where he can see me, he just cried more. I havent tried it since. So many things are different with puppys , all trial and error my friend !

| ![]() When I got Max for the first night I put the play pen right next to the bed. Then he got put across the room. After I get home from work he gets to play and then we go to bed, after potty. After the third or forth night he was great about waking me to go potty. Then he gets to spend the last few hours in bed with me. (and the other hounds!)

| ![]() Welcome to YT and congrats on the new baby! When I first got Lola, I put her in her crate at night and put the crate on the bed next to me. She hardly ever whined because she could see me. This method also worked with my mom's Yorkie, Rebel. Just as long as they could see me, they were ok. But if they ever whined, I just put my fingers in the crate, and they were ok again. If you can't put the crate on the bed, you could put it on a table next to the bed or probably even a chair. But he will get used to being alone in the bathroom, it will just take time. Good luck!

| ![]() Thanks everybody for your comments and advice. I think we will try putting the crate on a table next to our bed and see how he does. ![]() |
