| My Yorkie now has bad breath-help Ok so my little guy is 7months old and 4 lbs, he has never had bad breath and for about 2 weeks now well wow it's bad really bad he does not eat his bowel movements or get into anything he is with me pretty much all day and does go with me when I leave. I was wondering if an infected tooth could cause this, or maybe something else. I do brush his teeth and keep him very clean and feed him Royal caine and his other treats. Any advice???

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Teething will cause this. Have you had his baby teeth removed yet? Many Yorkies need help in losing their baby teeth. If permanent teeth come in, and baby teeth are still there, food gets lodged in crevices.

| An infected tooth, or even one that's loose and hasn't come out yet can cause stinky breath. Scooter was known as "death breath" for awhile. Also, if he has double teeth that haven't yet been removed, food can get trapped and their breath will be awful!! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | shark teeth The vet will have to anesthetize him lightly, otherwise it would be too painful. My Porsche was just a little over 4 pounds when she had hers done. She was fine.

| We called Archie "Jaws" because he had a complete double set of teeth and the bad breath to go with it. He had a couple of the loose baby teeth removed when he had a cyst removed at around 5 months and the rest of the baby teeth taken care of when he and Willie were neutered. Willie had a few retained baby teeth also but he never had the awful bad breath like Archie did. |

| Yes, do get them looked at. Or when they get to be older, it can be a big problem. See my thread on Stanford. He just had to all his teeth pulled as they were all rotten and infected. Take heart- he IS 10 years old. Good luck... |
