| How do I ship a yorkie?? Hey Everyone! Im going to Tennessee on March 5th. I was planning on buying a black/tan yorkie puppy while I was out there. But I just found out yesterday that Southwest doesn't allow animals. Is there a way that I could fly the animal on a different airline than mine and pick it up when I arrive at the LAX airport? Please let me know if you know of a good airline for animals. Thanks!!! |

| I'd switch to American or one that allows carry-on dog bags (for a fee). Too many chances for error. Ever have a suitcase lost in the bowels of the airport claim system? |

| Where in TN are you going? I always fly Airtran from Atlanta to Illinois..they're pretty reasonable and are flying quite a few places now...I had my last pup shipped to me, and she did fantastic..most airlines tend to be very cautious when there are puppies/dogs flying, so yes, you could have your puppy go out on a flight that gets in right after yours.. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | You can either have your pup shipped via cargo or vip like some airlines like northwest and southwest offer. The cargo goes by weight (not my idea of shipping if you have to) and the vip they get special treatment but it runs about $300. That is what I paid to ship Zoey in when she came from MO. If you aren't locked into your ticket I would say it would be cheaper and faster to get yourself a ticket with someone else and pay the extra $100 to fly the pup on board with you. Good luck in whatever decision you make. You need to contact the other airlines flying near you and see what service they offer.

| Most airlines require a certificate of health from a Vet, and proof of rabies vaccination. When Harley flew on Northwest they charged by the size of the crate.
