| Poor traumatized Mika Mika is coming up on her first birthday and was finally staring to "get it", when my next door neighbors decided that a new roof was in order for their home they have up for sale. We were in the house when we heard noises coming from that direction, and of course, Princess Mika does not like noises in her "kingdom." So she starts this vicious barking and growling, so I take her outside to potty. When she dashes outside to right the wrong in her world, she looks up and sees PEOPLE ON THE ROOF NEXT DOOR!!!!!!!! then she hears the shooting of the staple gun. She stops in mid-growl and makes a mad dash back to the door, firmly planting her nose in the seam as if she is trying to open it with her nose. Over her shoulder she is shooting furtive glances (GRAMMY HELP ME!!!) Now she won't go outside, is back to using it in the house, and although the roofers are long gone, she still thinks they are out there. Just like her fear of the garbage truck and the school bus, it seems she will not forget the mysterious "roof people". So will someone please tell me why a dog with such a good "memory" can't remember that my wood floors are not her potty???

| oh boy!!! the roofers scared the heck out of her! i am sure this is not great help for you but i *guess* what i would do if this happened is to try and take her out once you know the roofers are GONE FOR GOOD ... maybe hold her in your arms and just take her out again so she can look at her surroundings and see everything is "back to normal" ... maybe try and put her down and give her some treats or throw a toy around and play with her? since she is only a year old, i am sure she will recover quickly and hopefully will remember the floors are not where she is supposed to potty

| Sad as it is, it was also HILARIOUS. She was going out there and WHOOP the roof people until that staple gun went off

| Those things can be loud. There is a church going up down the street and here in the valley we are in, we can hear the hammering. I can imagine the next door sounds would be worse. The poor thing to be scared like that.

| I would take her outside in my arms when I was certain they were gone... Hopefully, they will get the job done quickly!

| Trust me, We have gone out there with her, in arms (she almost leaps out to the ground from fear), and reassuring tones and all, but she is NOT hearing it. LOL When paranoia creeps in with Miss Mika, it's there and that's that. The opinions of her humans matter not one bit.
