| First trim for puppy! PLEASE help me! Hi there! I am kinda lost. My puppy is 9 weeks old and I would like to find out when they should get groomed teh first time?! Nobody seemes to be able to help me! I did trim the hair around her bum and I also bath her once a week and clean her ears and everything else. She is VERY hot seeing that it is summer in South Africa now. I would liek her to have a long coat (I would like to try lol!!!) What are the steps to take to have the hair grow long? Not taking care of it, just what must i do now and untill it grows? Any ideas or advise is sooooo appreciated! Thanx! Puppy love to all! |

| My vet has a groomer that I love. She has several yorkies of her own and loves doing their hair. You can call your vet and ask if they could recommend a couple of groomers for you to interview. |

| Hi there, Well if you want to row the hair long, then you can just let it grow. It depends on the look you want. If the hair over the eyes is getting long and you want to cut it sorter you can trim above the eyes.... I would say look at pics of yorkies on here and decide what look you are going for. If you are growing the coat out I wouldn't cut it.

| For a 9 week puppy you should start slowly and often, but no more than a few minutes at a time, until they get used to regular combing and clipping nails etc... Treats help, too. As for grooming, the pup really should have all the puppy shots and the 'waiting period' after, my pup was groomed for the first time around 4 months of age... Good luck!
