| New Yorkie Parents :) Hello! My husband and I just adopted our first Yorkie and have already fallen so deeply in love with him! We have two cats and he chases them around like he is their size. He is only 8 weeks so it's a fun time I have a question as we are trying to figure out how large of a kennel to purchase... if he is only 1 lb 15oz. at 8 weeks, how big should we expect him to get? Thanks in advance for your responses... we are so excited to have him as part of our family!! |

| I got the smallest size wire crate (24"?) for Jamie and he has plenty of room. So much that at first I had to divide it in 2. By the way welcome to YT!

| Congratulation on your new puppy and welcome to YT. I would guess your pup will probably be around 6 lbs grown. |

| I would purchase the smallest one. Then when he gets larger, you may have to get him a bigger one but not for a few months. You do not want it too big because then he has more room to potty . ~Marly

| Hi and welcome. We used a small pet carrier for out Kass and put it inside a huge metal crate. She has lots of room to run around but at the same time her smaller crate so she felt safe and had a nice place to sleep.

| I'd get the smallest one there is. He should only have enough room to stand up and turn around comfortably otherwise he might start using his crate as a potty too. Chip was 2.6 lbs when we brought him home and he is now about 7-8 lbs. I'd probably expect him to be about 5 lbs full grown, but you never know with these babies!

| hey fellow texan!! congrats on your new baby and welcome to YT!! size is always hard to predict ... my boy was about that weight at 8 weeks and we thought (and still hope!!) he would be in the 5-6 lb range since he was awfully chubby (he actually had ROLLS of puppy fat! LOL) but even if he stays small or grows to 10 lbs we will still love him sooo much
