| A good way to tell age is to look at the teeth. Teeth don't start erupting til about 3 or four (sometimes 2) weeks. I think all 28 should erupt by about day 45 or so.

| My pet peeve is people who get animals that have no idea what they are getting into, and then decide they can't be bothered and the poor animal ends up in a shelter or something.ONE MONTH OLD!! This poor baby has no business leavng it's mother.

Thnx for the info! This puppy was whining all night. My bf's sister seemed annoyed cause he obviously was disturbing her sleep, he was crying really loud! My bf and i decided to leave it there so she can learn that it is a great responsiblity like a baby. She then warmed some milk and tried to give it to him but he wasn't hungry. It's cause he misses his momma, or littermates. When we were playing with him earlier he seemed fine. We did give him dry food and he ate it, we wet it with water. So im thinking he is 8-10 weeks old. I def. think he is mixed. I want to take it to the vet today but she doesn't want to give my bf money for it

| I can relate to this...sounds similiar to my sister and my BIL...they just recently got their 14 year old daughter a puppy..a king charles spaniel....the daughter always gets her own way...well, she's already fed up with it and now mum is having to take care of the pup most of the time..which i knew would happen! my sister already has her hands full with her two other children..an 8 year old boy and a very lively 2 year old girl..she could do without it. The pup is also never going to be left in peace with the two younger children..I feel sorry for the poor little thing.

| The pup wouldn't have to be 8 weeks to eat dog food. Don't some try to eat kibble as early as 6 weeks?

| How frustrating!! I so feel for you..it sounds like you are going to be the one responsible for this baby no matter what..which is selfish and unfair on her part..Id rehome it with someone more responsible..no matter what she says..she obviously dosent care about her past pets.. Dawn |

| He has a very Cocker Spaniel face. He's beautiful. I'm sorry you got thrown into this. God bless you for helping him though. He doesn't look terribly young, I'd guess between 6-8 weeks. Good Luck with him!

| My Little Man! Donating Member | oh no! I just came across this thread, this is so sad I cannot stand irresponsible people! I am really sorry to hear about this whole situation. I am glad at least you can help. You know some people are so ignorant they think dogs are just like any other pets like rabbits, birds, hamsters etc. They dont realize that dogs need a lot of attention more then any other pets. The little pup is so young to go away from the mother Usually all the kids want dogs but at the end I think we all know what happens, the parents are the ones that take care of the pets, its just the way it is. This lady obviously has no time for the pup oh this is so sad I am glad you can be there and help out for this little guy. He is so cute. Try to put a ticking clock next to the pup when he cries just make sure he doesnt get to it to bite it. I heard it helps because it imitates the heart beat of the mother.
