| ![]() I had to laugh at these posts. Gracie has always been our best furbaby. Now, Katie is a totally different story... She loves this game. She is 6 yrs old now and is slowly growing out of this game. She is always on her leash because we still don't trust her. ![]()

| ![]() Didn't know you were writing a comedy thread, did ya? ![]() We are very careful about never "chasing". My hubby likes to run and play in the house with Coby, but my rule is "you have to let Coby chase you; you can't chase him". The problem is that if DH is running around the table letting Coby chase him, somehow Coby knows how to adjust the speed, either faster or slower, until suddenly without my hubby's knowledge, he is chasing Coby. Damn smart york's. ![]()

| ![]() Tonight was a crazy night to say the least....I go to take Bleu to go potty at midnight and low and behold this is TMI but it thundered and Bleu took off running.. He never has done that... Me in my night attire I have to go to get him .... It is raining and Im just panicing it is about to get worse.. He finally stopped and looked back and when he did I started runnning towards the opposite direction and instead of chasing him he came CHASING ME thank goodness! We are both soaking wet and I hope noone got a PANTY SHOT but I was not about to let my baby run terrified and get lost...Panties and all I was following him... WHEW I am glad that is over.. He is getting a leash tomorrow.

| ![]() We talked about this little game in my puppy class. Pretty much everyone had the same story. The one thing that the instructor could not stress enough was to NOT say the word "come" as you are chasing your puppy. She says it teaches them that "come" means "let's play chase!" It is super-cute when they find a treasure and take off, with their little tails wagging! |

| ![]() It's a cute fun game until your baby somehow got out near street/traffic then you have no choice but to play their game. I know my neighbors think I am crazy running zig zag throuh their yards when my baby is so small they cannot see I am chasing him. It really isnt funny. I too would love advice to not reinforce bad behavior |

| ![]() STAY. Teach your babies to stay. I truly believe this is the answer. Don't wait until it's too late...teach them to stay now...today. All I have to do is say the word "stay"...and Winston immediately stops what he is doing and lays down. It's for his own good and safety. Then when you master the stay command...teach them to "leave it". If Winston gets into something that I don't want him to have I tell him to stay...he lays down...then I tell him to leave it...and whatever he has in his mouth he puts down. What a good boy I have...I am so proud of him.

Also do not play into his chase game. When you tell him to come and he runs in the opposite direction you should just turn around and walk away. the game is no fun for him if you ignore him and do not make a motion to follow. Then when he finally comes to you, give him a treat. Also when your not doing a training session and he just happens to walk up to you, on his way over say the word come and when he gets to you give him a treat. So by his coming over to you on his own he'll hear the word come.
