Okay, the chart is showing them to be around 5-5 1/2 lbs full grown..the mother dog to me doesn't look to be 14 lbs which I know, because mine is 14 lbs. I would see if the ears come up(were the dads ears up)? I think they look precious... |

Okay so I spoke to my mother. LoL I would only do it in the company of my therapist. I told her I wanted a smaller puppy than the one we put a payment on already.. first she was mad and tried to convince me to keep it but in the end she said she wanted me to be happy and I should get the dog I wanted. Which is what i think. Anyway, I wanted her to call the lady but she wont do that. My therapist suggests I write her a letter? and mail it, so its formal and everything. She says this has worked for her in the past. I think its a good idea. I think shes more likely to say no over the phone. Sooo im going to write the letter today and mail it tomorrow--but if we lose the money I guess it will be okay. right now im looking at some other breeders/puppies... its just so hard to judge how big they are going to get though, even if tehy say they are going to be small (2 1/2-3 pounds) |

I would say if over 1 lb at 5 weeks it will be larger than 8 lbs based on current size. I agree completely not to evaluate before 8 weeks old. |
One of my yorkies weighed 1.2 lbs at 8 weeks old when I brought him home and going by the chart he should have stayed under 4 lbs. He's 2 years old now and weighs 7 lbs 2 oz. He's not at all fat either but on the slim side so you can't always go by the growth chart. I thought I was getting a little one but he has the sweetest personality and I wouldn't trade him for any thing. Maybe she'll let you transfer the deposit to another puppy. |
Well those pups are cute any way...There is no knowing the size... I know one woman on here said her puppy was much biggerr then both parents. The parents were 4-5 pounds and her puppy grew to be like 9 or 10 pounds. What ever happens I'm sure your going to love your new puppy to death! I would call though. If these people are going to refund your money the sooner you tell them the better. try to be open minded and see whats meant to be. Maybe this pup is the best thing that ever happened to you!!! :D ;) |

I agree. If you want your money back I would not send a letter. Letters tend to not get responded back to. Then you are left wondering if they got the letter, what they thought of the letter, and then you have to end up calling them in the end anyway to see what they have to say. I would call if I were you, then the breeder can hear the tone of voice and maybe feel sorry for you. They can't hear your voice in a letter.;) Just a thought. Hope everything works out for you in the end.:) |
My experience with the growth charts is that they are an estimate and not a bible. They seem to be fairly accurate if a pup is cobby-bodied but if not, the pup will be larger than the chart estimates. |
There is more to genetics than just the parents' sizes. How many of us have a genetic feature compliments of one of our grandparents or great grandparents? It can go back a couple of generations.... |
Can't you just say you lost your job and have no way of paying for the puppy therefore would they be kind enough to refund your money because you need it to live on until you find another job? Really put it on thick. You can pull it off I'm sure. |
My 14 lb yorkies parents were both right around the 4 lb mark, so, you really don't know..We were hoping ginger would get to 5 lbs. but, she's over 6 mos now and just right around 4 lbs. to me, she's too tiny, I'm hoping she gets a little bigger... |
From what I have read and observed sometimes you can't really tell the size of your pup, small parents have produced bigger pups and vice versa. I think that would good nutrition and love, you will forget about weight. However I would be more concerned with health of the pup, overall genetics passed on to the babies. By the way I went to the website, what the hey is "behind" April male #4?? I see a human leg and thennnn???? Good luck with you baby search or purchase. |

the pups look cute and 'dad' is lovely, but if top of the list of what you want is for an undersized yorkie i wouldn't get 1 of these they do look bigger, gorgeous but definitely bigger. |
