| Hi Everyone, New here and have some Questions... My family and I have two adorable sheltie females that we love so much. We have decided to add a yorkie to our family this spring/summer. We are taking our time to find out more about yorkies and to visit breeders/shelters close to us to learn more about the breed and the indivisual pups. I am wondering if anyone out there can direct me to a wonderful book to purchase that would give me all the information we need. I know there are lots of books out there but I want a book that covers EVERYTHING! We bought a book years ago that sheltie owners called the sheltie bible and it had everything under the sun about shelties in it and is nearly 300 pages. I'd love a book like that about yorkies. |

| Hi!! Welcome to YT!! Would love to see pictures of your shelties - another beautiful breed. So glad to hear you are doing your research first. I have heard a people rave about "Yorkies Head to Tail" & it's at least 300-plus pages - I've thought about getting a copy. I have a smaller book, "A New Owner's Guide to Yorkshire Terriers." -- this is a nice book, but I know there is so much more there to say. And yes, there is all kinds of information here. The search option is decent -- it's really to bad we don't have a better archived section. Also, feel free to ask questions you have, there are many knowledgeable yorkie owners, breeders, and show exhibitors here.

| Hi there! Welcome to YorkieTalk!! As everyone has posted, YT has so much good information. Yorkies are awesome little dogs, and they are so easy to become attached to...... mine are glued to my hip!!! (they also are very spoiled, and they are a big part of our family) But even with all the wonderful things, there are a few things that you should be aware of before buying one. There are a few health issues that some Yorkies sometimes have and you can avoid a Yorkie with health problems with some knowledge. You may want to do a search on Liver Shunt, Luxating Patellas, hypoglycemia, Legg Perthes.... (lots of info right here on this site). The fact that you are doing your homework before making a purchase says a LOT about you!!!! Hope that you find a wonderful little Yorkie Furbutt to add to your family!! Again, Welcone to YT.... and nice to meet you!
