My little guy also squats and I hope he continues to do that. He's only 12 weeks old though so I'm sure that can still change. I hope not though.

Maxi does that too! He is 1 years old now and still squats. He started to lift his leg a little bit once in a blue moon but he doesnt go wee wee on the tree yet

Having raised one boy (non-Yorkie), and now with a male Yorkie in the house too, I can say that the legs are lifting all over the joint. LOL
Seriously, males DO squat. When mine squats, I know it is serious "gotta go lots, now!" kind of thing. The leg lifting is more for marking territory. So when the big dog runs around, lifting his leg on everything, I know he is not being serious about peeing.
Did you know too that males try to mark their "territory" by urinating as high up as they can? I saw on TV a dog in NYC that literally ran at a tree, jumped up the trunk as far as he could, and peed a little. Repeated this about 3 times. It is a hierarchy kind of thing.
Of course, a Yorkie male would have a harder time "getting up high".
In our home, the boys (2 male dogs and a male cat) outnumber the girls (one female Maine Coon cat)- so I am getting to observe firsthand the differences. It is very interesting!

.....that's OK, Abigail pees like a boy. LOL Well, actually, she incorporates both techniques. She squats, then lifts her left leg. Cracks me up.

I had a Chihuahua who never learned to lift his leg and he was so easy to potty train and deal with. Be thankful that he hasn't learned to lift his leg and pee all over things and hope that he never learns! It's a blessing!

I would be happy if mine squatted. Luckily he only lifts his leg outside. However on every pole, fire hydrant or whatever we pass on walks he lifts his leg

I have a girl that pees like a boy too, lol.
When she pees inside on her pee pad, she squats, but outside she hikes her leg just like a guy. I hear it's a dominance thing.
