| ![]() Hey All! Oliver went to the groomer a few days ago and now he has a huge welt under his chin. It itches him like CRAZY! I gave him a bath with medicated shampoo from the vet, oatmeal shampoo and oatmeal conditioner. I put neosporin on it and a cone so he didn't scratch. He CRIES AND CRIES AND CRIES! I thought it would take awhile for him to get used to it but I think it is the itching that is causing the crying... I don't knwo what to do!! When I am home I'm OKAY with leaving the cone off and watching him very carefully so he doesn't scratch but I will have to be gone all day tomorrow (9:30-3:30) and I am worried that he'll CRY ALL DAY with the cone on or scratch all day with it off... any suggestions? Thanks guys. I'm worried about him!

| ![]() I really don't know how to help. Wonder what it is? Have your tried benedryl. Do you suppose he picked up a flea? Perhaps that would have started the scratching and now he can't stop.

| ![]() how much benedryl is safe? He's a little over 10 pounds It's so sad. He knows he can't scratch because I've told him no a few times so he's running around like crazy rubbing himself on the floor to try to get some relief. ![]()

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | ![]() Could it be some sort of ring worm. They can easily get that from the groomers if the groomer has groomed a dog before and not sanitized their equipment. Ring worm looks like a lesion and is itchy as hell I have been told.

| ![]() I looked up images of ringworm... and I don't think that is what it is. He has several scabs in different areas of his body (like flea bites?) and then this one infected? one... I think I need to make an appointment with the vet... Just to get some antibiotics or cream or something to help him not be so uncomfortable... Will benedryl help till then?? Does anyone know how much for a doggie his size? A little over 10 pounds... THanks guys! I'm really anxious to leave him alone this afternoon but I have midterms ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Benedryl will help until then. I always keep an anti-itch cream in case something comes up and it would be great for that. I think a trip to the vet is definitely called for. Good luck!

| ![]() The welt might not have anything to do with going to the groomers. Could he have got bite by a spider or something? I would get some aloe vera gel to help soothe the itching. |

| ![]() I think the best thing to do is to take him to the vet as soon as you get the chance. I'm not sure if he could pick up some sort of condition requiring antibiotics or some other medication. Benadryl will probably help for the short term. Poor guy, you know he's got to be so uncomfortable. Good luck.

| ![]() I have actually given my 9 pounder one of those little capsules mixed in food. But ask others to make sure or look it up on the search I know people have talked about it before.

| ![]() I'd take him to the vet - my pup had something that did not look like a ringworm at all - but it was - because it finally got well after they gave me the ringworm medicine. The benadryl and other creams would stop the scratching - but the lesion was still there - |
