Sukoshis, I don't know if he remembers me or not. I would guess not, as his stay last time was brief. But he certainly has no problem making himself at home. I found him buried under the blanket in the chair this morning. So cute. Responding now to his new name, and gave a big neighborhood dog a bit of mouth (bark) for trying to get in his face while peeing. I do have a question for you all... Lots of food is going in, in small amounts, but NOTHING is coming out the other end. Lots of good urinating going on, no vomiting, but no poop either. He seems more relaxed, not agitated. Any idea where all this food is going? He is going to my vet this afternoon for a workup, so I will mention this to her. It is just startling to have this happen, as the big dog is like clockwork with #2. Maybe the shock of all the changes? Any insight is appreciated. Stannie slept thru the night, with no accidents. He seems a bit more alert and involved today, but still is a bit "standoffish". And that is OK. I am letting him take his time, and giving lots of love in-between. |

As for the 'lack of poop' I'm sure it is just the stress of it all, plus his food has alot of work to do in his system! Luckily the vet can give you advice today, but as long as he seems comfortable, he is probably fine. Best of luck with Stannie:) -Jill |
Best of luck with your new addition. |
I agree about the lack of poo may be stress. Relaxing may make a difference. Just wanted to add if he does poo before the appt. make sure to take a sample with you for the vet to test ;) |
He looks like hes had a hard time poor guy. Im sure his hair will be better soon with all the love you are giving. This is a great story. |
You can add a little bit of canola or olive oil to his food, that usually helps poop slip out ;) |
Hi Matthew, I am new here but I have checked out your previous posts. You have a great heart and I think this dog was meant to be in your home. And from where I sit, that does not look like a bad place to be. You are doing such a good thing. Good Luck! |

Well, my vet got slammed with emergency cases yesterday, and our appointment was postponed until next week. She is a top notch vet, so I understand that, but was a bit disappointed. On the positive side: WE HAVE POOP! AND OUTSIDE, TOO. I was very pleased. Stannie pooped last night, and again this morning. He is starting to get a bit sassy. If I am eating, he barks at me for a taste (but does not get one). And he is an EATING MACHINE. He is getting fed about every 4 hours (two tablespoons of wet food), and sucks it down. When he is hungry, he goes and stands in the kitchen by his bowl, and barks. What a good guy. He also is now liking to cuddle, and offered a few face licks to me this morning. He is making the home his own, and loves to nap in the recliners, and catch some sun on the cat perch (the cats are none too happy about this, but seem to understand). It may be strange, but I had a chat with the other animals, and briefly told them that Stannie had been thru some tough times, and needed our compassion and understanding. TJ can relate, as he was an abused dog before coming to me. My Maine Coon (Grace) was given up due to allergies, and my American Shorthair (Kenneth) was abandoned by his mother, and wandered out of the woods to my doorstep in the middle of the winter. So all of them have some stories about hardship. I doubt that any of my ramblings were understood, but so far they all seem to be cutting him a lot of slack, and just letting him relax without pestering him. So who knows? I am going to start adding 1/8th of a teaspoon of Missing Link to his food, to see if the vitamins and fiber will help with the skin and coat. Another update soon. |

Thank you for this update. You sure are a good daddy to all of your "kids". I hope the Missing Link will help Stannie's coat and skin. |
Awwww he sound like he is fitting in perfectly!!!! I'm so glad it is all working out for both of you! |
Thanks for the update. I was wondering how he was settling into his new home.:) |
I have just read all the previous posts about little Stannie and iam glad that he is now settling with you......I think you deserve each other.:D |
I just saw your post on a different thread... remembered the "Matthew/Myles" story from before and thought "could it be????" So I had to scramble and search for this thread. I can't tell you how thrilled I am. Your story really touched my heart before. I have often thought of that little guy off and on through the last couple of months. I would say I just can't believe how it turned out..... but in reality, I truly truly can. I don't know how I missed it before, but this really made my night, and I'm so glad I found this out before going to bed tonight. Give all your lucky babies some extra kisses from all of their friends here on YT. This is one of those legendary YT stories. Thanks for being here, Matthew. |
Sounds like everything is falling into place...I can relate to the begging for people food..the little sounds they come up with to awww us into giving them a taste is funny!! I want more pics!!! :D Dawn |
