| Yuck Tilly!!! I'm going to have to back track myself a little...on Friday Tilly didn't act right. She was sleeping a lot and stayed in her bed most of the day. She isn't very active to begin with and I just figured it's been so cold out she was trying to keep warm. Well as the day went on she starting shaking and doing this heavy panting. She has done it before and I know it means one of two things, vomit or diarahea (sp). I told hubby I was going to hurry up and take her outside and she then started to pee. I figured she was done so started walking to the door. I looked back and she did have diarahea. I told hubby to put up her food and let her tummy settle down before she goes in there and eats. The last time she did this the vet said go awhile without food and try cottage cheese. So she didn't have any dog food until closer to around 5 or 6 last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to heavy panting and her shaking. My hubby took her outside to see if she needed to go again. Nothing. About two hours later she had diarahea in the bed. It also had the worst smell ever! It about gagged you. So we took all the bed clothes off and camped out on the couch. Well about an hour ago she did it again. I told hubby try the no dog food again. It seemed to work last time. Everytime we bring it back out she gets sick. She has had the same food for about a year now. Never seemed to have any problems with it. Should I slowly start to introduce another food? She has been eating Royal Canin.

| Poor Little Tilly! Whenever Tucker gets diahrrea I cook some rice and boil some chicken or hamburger to give him instead of his food. I still feed him at his regular times, just with the chicken or hamburger and rice instead of his Canidae. I have given him teeny bits of immodium a-d for diahrrea too because he has such a sensitive stomach, the littlest things can trigger diahrrea for Tucker. But Tilly sounds like she might actually be sick if she's panting and not able to hold it until outside...maybe you should call the vet. One thing I would absolutely not do right now with her belly all upset is to start changing her dog food since that in and of itself can cause stomach upset. I hope your poor girl feels better soon!

| I would take her in to the vet as soon as possible! I know that smelly diarrhea can be symptoms of some bad things like coccidia or parvo. Keep us updated on how she's doing!

| We just went through sorta similar thing with Gracie this week. However, she was not shaking, but she had vomiting and diarrhea. We also have not changed their food in over a year and we are very very careful that nothing hits the floor. Hallee was fine and had none of these symptoms. Thursday morning she vomited and had diarrhea. I came home later that day and she had poo all over her backside and had diarrhea smeared all over the carpet. As I was running bath water she threw up two more times and had diarrhea again. Hubby called our vet and her got her in that night before closing. Her temp was fine and she was hydrated. He gave her a shot for vomiting and a shot to relax her because he said he could feel her tummy cramping up. The shot to relax her totally relaxed her because by the time we got home she could not even walk. Then he gave us oral medication for vomiting as needed. She was fine by the Friday afternoon. That cost us $74.00. She seems to still be fine.

| Thanks guys. I'm gonna see if I can get her into the vet tomorrow. She seems to be feeling a little bit better this evening. I gave her a bath and it perked her up. I would rather be safe and still take her to the vet. I dunno what it could be, I wish Tilly was able to talk to me, well I know she tries, we just can't understand. Poor thing.

| If she is current on vaccines, it is probably not parvo (although it could be). My thoughts are colitis, gastroenteritis or pancreatitis. Generally colitis comes with bloody stools though. How many times has this happened? I would also be concerned with the shaking when she isn't feeling well. It would be fine if she threw up then but you said once she was shaking and wouldn't throw up or use the bathroom, so I wonder about her liver. It is worth a trip to the vet and I wouldn't settle on them telling you to just give cottage cheese....

Therapy Dog Donating Member | How is Tilly today? Hmmm...We had a similar situation with Izzy over the holidays. Izzy does not eat much and is sort of picky. I tried a new food sample that I got over the holidays (EVO small bites) and boy did she get the runs. Then I looked at the package and saw that it was extremely high in protein - like 42% and that's very high for Yorkies..I think they should be about 23-25% protein - it's hard on their liver. Then I decided to try Life's Abundance (from Linda at FuFuFashioin) and then I mixed it up with her Back to Basics and I haven't had a problem since. Izzy also sleeps a lot and I too think it's partly due to the cold weather here. But I noticed that since I've been mixing the Life's Abundance with her Back to Basics she has more energy. I'll be weaning her off the Back to Basics once I use it all up and then switchher to all Life's Abundance. I don't know if it's the LA but you never know. Hope our little Tilly is feeling better today....if she isn't then I would call the vet just to make sure.

| I am sorry to hear about Tilly. Rocco did this same sort of thing not so long ago and it lasted for about two days and then he was fine. I have often wondered if our fur babies can catch a stomach virus like we as humans do? There is a stomach virus going around here that is for the lack of a better term just VISCIOUS and my family of four passed it around for about a week and right after that is when Rocco got sick. Kind of makes you wonder huh? I hope Tilly feels better soon.
