| Will Two Male yorkie's Fight? I am sorry if this has been asked before but I have a three year old male yorkie Charley and am thinking of getting a companion for him. I have been told that two males will fight is this correct? Any views would be much appreciated Sharon & Charley |

| There are alot of people on here with two males that dont fight. I think you would maybe have some of that if they were both unneutered and you also had an unspayed female

| I have 2 boys and a girl. All are neutered and get along great.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I have heard this before....true? I suppose it could happen. My first yorkie was a male, then a female, and we just brought another little male into the family. My oldest male is 3, the new guy is just 18 weeks or so. I watch them very closely when they are together and will continue to do so until the pup is much older and I am fully comfortable with them being together. But aside from normal (slight) jealously warnings from my older male, there are NO signs of wanting to fight. I think for the most part, handled correctly in how you bring a new dog into the family, there shouldn't be too much of a problem. Good Luck!

| As long as they are neutered and done young, by six months of age they will be fine. A lot depends on the dogs themselves. I have two females that are both spayed but will get into little tiffs from time to time, but it has nothing to do with their sex - it's a personality thing. Elaine |

| Yes and no..neutering is definitely a big factor, but, my sister has 5 inside dogs, 3 females and 2 males(the males are going on 5 and are brothers), they were all neutered/spayed at an early age..They did get in to a bad fight the other day, and when my sister went to break it up, she got bit(they're morkies), so not real big dogs. For the most part they get along though.. |

| Thanks for replying. Charley is neutered and I do intend to neuter the new pup. Do you think that yorkies are happier having another yorkie in the home? I know that alot of you have more than one yorkie Just interested in your views Sharon & Charley xx |

| I have never had two male yorkies but I did have two male pugs and at one time I had a Male great dane and a male pug. They all got along wonderful. Never had a problem. They were all neutered though - if that really makes a difference.

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | I have 4 females and 2 males, one nuetered one not. They get into it about once a week. I have to separate them when Im not home for fear they will fight and hurt each other. The rest of them, play, sleep together, and kiss each other. And its not only the unnuetered one that starts it. I think it depends on their personality, but thats just my opionion. It sure isnt because I let them get away with it or one gets more attention than the other. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I have 2 males that are not neutered and yes, they do fight. I have to keep them separated. (They are my show Silky terriers.) But I also have 2 females in the house who are spayed, but that does not seem to help the situation. One of mine is 4 and the other is 15 months....we brought in the 4 year old last November.....and for 6 weeks everything was fine.....but then we think someone in the neighboorhood came into heat....because they got into to it regularly until we separated them at all times. From what my breeder told me.....the older unneutered dog will be patient with a new puppy........but mostly like the problems will arise when the puppy grows up and the puppy begins to challenge the older puppy.....and that is exactly what we saw happen. Sorry, I have no experience with unneutered males.....but my spayed females do get into it at times - but that may be once every few months....not daily/weekly. Good luck.....and Yes I think dogs like a companion in the house....at least it seemed to help alot for us with the separation issues when we leave for work!

| Mine try to fight when one of the girls is in heat. But, that's when they go into the crate. Separate crates. Other times, they get along just fine. |

| I have two neutered males, Chip is a rescue and was around a year old when I got him. Harley is a semi-rescue and I got him around age two. They both have friendly personalities, and are for the most part pretty easy going. I've only had Harley just over a month, and so far no fights just some wrestling, and toy snatching. I think they both really enjoy having each other as siblings, since they are both around the same age, size, personality, and temperment. Currently Harley has been obsessed with my 10 yr. old cat, who doesn't share the mutual feeling
