| ![]() I honestly never thought of it...yorkies being a risk from birds....I have a 6 foot block wall all around my 1/2 acre yard and gates that are locked...LOL a fortress....no four legged predator can get in....I just didn't think about hawks....I was really really lucky. I feel so bad for all the fur babies that weren't as fortunate ![]()

| ![]() I live in an area where there a lots of hawsk. I never ever leave my Yorkie outside, unattended in a pen, etc. When he is out with me walking on his leash I keep a watch on the skies above. So far no hawks have come near me while we are in the yard but, thanks for the post, because now I will be extra careful. |

| ![]() Oh I hope, that you and Peanut are OK. A few years ago, a hawk swooped down into our yard and grabbed one of the morning doves sitting on the railing of our deck.( there were two at the time) Then not too long ago my sister saw a hawk grab a rabbit out of our yard. We have all sorts of animals in and out of our yard, skunks, raccoons fox and and even a coyote, it's fully fenced too! Needless to say the girls are never outside unless there is two of us, with them. ~Marly

| ![]() How scary! I am so glad that all ended well. I would hope that the hawk will seek lunch elsewhere in the future. |

| ![]() Whew, I have hawks and owls flying over our home all the time. When the pups go out I am always out with them. You can bet from now on I will have a broom handy on the patio..... That would scare the heck out of me too.... thanks for the reminder.

| ![]() Hi I have been thinking about this for a couple of hours, and just had to come back on with a question. Even though hawks are an endangered species in your area, if you were foced to kill one that was going after your baby, how could you be blamed for merely defending your family pet? I just don't see how anyone could go after that person. Just an opinion, but have really been wondering about this one. Janice |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() OMG, I'd be scared to death!!! I bet you and your Lil Peanut are horrified. I don't have anything against hawks either but let one come near our furbabies and it's on! I've already told my hubby and all the kids though, Maggy or Luke neither one are allowed outside unless they have a harness and leash o at ALL TIMES and are COMPLETELY supervised. Thank God your baby is ok!

| ![]() I live in an area with eagles, hawks and owls. Also, osprey, cranes, herons, vultures, alligators, and a bunch of other predators ![]() The hawks and other winged predators can't get the fish, and in fact, I've never even seen any of them eyeing the ponds because of the deterrents. But Puddin's a different story. And during the past week, I've seen a hawk perched on the roof several times. Small dogs disappear around here all the time, dogs that were allowed to run free in the supposed safety of their fenced back yards. He has such a blast running in the yard, but I fear for his safety, even when I'm outside with him because he runs so fast and away from me. If a hawk was eyeing "lunch", he'd be gone in a heartbeat. I've been trying to figure out how to make an area for him to run in, that has a roof/netting over it to protect him. Any ideas? FWIW, my hubby just purchased a high-powered BB gun. I respect all life and the birds are majestic additions to our skies - but if one goes after my dog(s), it will end up in a hole in the yard right quickly. |
