I had S'anah sitting in the front part of the cart and we were looking at toys and of course I'm carrying on a conversation with her - usual shopping stuff. Well, this woman walked up and was oohing and ahhing over Susanah. Ok, that's pretty normal too. When she walked up I instinctively picked S'anah up and held her in my arms. I have ALWAYS done that. Guess I am just paranoid or something. I do the same thing if she is walking on her leash - I pick her up if anyone approaches.

At this point I would think it would be obvious to pretty much anyone that I am a little crazy over the Poopanut. Well, the lady asked if she could hold her. I very politely told her no, but added she was more than welcome to pet her. She went on to tell me her husband was just a couple aisles over and could she just run her over there and she would bring her right back. Ok, now if I wouldn't even let her HOLD S'anah wth makes her think I'm going to let her walk off with her?

You know what she had the audacity to say me? She looked at me and said, "It's just a d*mn dog, get over it you f-ing b*tch!"

I was just shocked. I didn't even pay for our things. I just left the cart there and left the store. I am still a little shakey. I think it hurt and bothered me more that she called my Poopanut a "d*mn dog" than the fact that she called me the f b.

I just can't believe some people!

I know that hurt, as you are probably a lady...I apologize for the off. But your judgement was good and someone opened my eyes to this the other day. Believe me, this lady acts this way about many issues, not just wanting to hold your dog, but good job Mom.

Here's a story for ya...it didn't involve my dog, but I had something similar happen. When my daughter was a newborn, my mom was visiting from out of state so we took my then 6 week old baby to Babies R Us. I was carrying my baby instead of putting her in the stroller....I always wanted her closest to me. Anyway,I had these two VERY VERY scary looking women approach me. They both were EXTREMELY dirty and one acted like she was on something!!! She said that she was the mother-in-law and the other lady was her suppose to be her daughter-in-law....they looked like the exact same age. They both got right in my face and the one that acted like she was on something said, "That's a gorgeous baby...let me hold her!". Ummm, I was shocked so I politely said that she would cry...this lady went on to say,"That's ok,just give her to...I'm going to hold her!" As she is actually reaching for my baby!!! My mom then walked up and the ladies backed away and then said oh well,nevermind. EEK!!!!! You can just never be too careful nowadays. Sad but true.

i work at petsmart and wouldnt believe how many crazy people hang out there! there are people that cfome in on a regular basis jsut o walk around and taslk to cutomers... its so creepy.. ande no matter how many time we ask them to leave they always come back.

i teach training classes there and i've had people actually come into the training room in the middle of classes (its a closed room with a big glass window for peope to watch) and start asking people if they can touch their dogs.... i lock the door most of the time now cause it can make my students so uncomfortable.

The only crazy thing that happened to me at ours, is a doberman ran at me and startled me I yelled out. She ended up being a very affectionate three legged cancer survivor and I felt bad that I'd yelped!

That IS just creepy! I can't believe some people just think its OK to touch/hold/grab other's babies - whether they are skinbabies or furbabies.

Well, if I had a SKINHEAD (and I don't) I don't think I'd want someone else's grimy hands on it either! Its just the point of people just walking out and touching and grabbing things that don't belong to them!

I always say to people "dog people are the best people" but what is up with these people at PetSmart..this is probably the 50th thread I have read about people being rude at petsmart..and I mean the customers!!

It's a witness to our sensibilities. They haven't been deadened to the point that we can't be shocked , yet. Some things are just so down-right shockingly RUDE, we can't believe our own ears while it's happening!!
