| Yorkie jumpers Hi all, I am new to this site, having recently purchased a Yorkie puppy for my 14 year old daughter. I would like to knit her some jumpers as i have found that she gets very cold when out walking in the winds. I cant find any anywhere and am desperate for her to go out walking more. I have wool and needles etc but no patterns. I have found some patterns but they all come in big books that are so expensive!!. Any ideas anyone? Also i am having problems trying to house train her. She goes outside but wont wee but then will come back in the house and wee on the newspaper i put down in the kitchen.I have tried to not put any paper down in the house but she then just wees all over the floor in any part of the house. She also tends to wee and poo at random places over the house despite the paper area being open to her. Help please, this is the first puppy i have had, my other dog, (staff), i got from a kennels as a 3 year old dog. Thanks all. Jackie xxx |

| Hello. I'm new here, too, and I can tell you I've found a lot of helpful info here. We got our puppy Jack when he was 6 weeks old and house training was pretty crazy. At first, we took him out about every half hour. We didn't wait for signs that he needed to go, we just took him out. He didn't know how to tell us yet. So we'd take him to the door, say things like "you want to go outside" then once we were out tell him to "do your business." After a week or two we were taking him out every hour. Also every time he woke up from a nap. Finally he learned to go to the door to let us know, and we have a bell on the floor by the door that he's learning to ring when he needs to go out. He's four months now and he still has an accident sometimes, but nothing like those first few weeks. We just had to keep working with him and wait for him to learn how to hold it (those first couple of weeks he would frequently pee just a few drops here and there, as if his body didn't know he could hold it for a while) and for his little bladder to get big enough to hold more. Good luck!

My Little Man! Donating Member | hey if you are looking for accessories for your pup there are decent prices on www.petedge.com. When it comes to house training I learned the first great thing is to crate train your pup first. When they are very little and are still with their mother they learned not to poop and pee where they sleep. So if you put weewee pads in the crate your pup will come out from his/her bed and go on weewee pads. What I did after the crate training I bought a play pan and attached it to the crate so the pup has more room to wonder and placed weewee pads in the play pan. Everytime he went on the weewee pad he would get rewarded. My little baby learned pretty fast. When I started to take him outside he also would get rewarded after each time he goes. He learned that if he is going outside he ll get a yummy treat and couldnt resist that. Just make sure your pup is outside for some time so he/she will defenately go outside, just make sure he/she is not cold. My little baby has warm sweaters that he loves. Good luck! This training takes a lot of work but it always works, just need patience

| thanks all!!! Hello there all of you, just wanted to say a quick thanks to the three of you who responded to my question online. ~They have been really helpful. AT the moment i am taking her out at key times like after breakfast etc and during the day when i am off work. It is, as you say, very hard work but i am going to keep at it. Trouble is i do take her out quite alot but she just goes out, sniffs around and then comes back in again to wee either on the paper or somewhere in the house. /Still never mind i will keep at it. I have also managed to find a book of dog knitting patterns on Amazon for £4.99 so hopefully that will have some nice patterns in and i can get cracking and get her some cute sweaters too. By the way, in case anyone is worrying out there she does have a coat already which i wont take her out without her wearing. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!!!! OXOXOXOX |

My Little Man! Donating Member | Oh I forgot to mention something. When I started teaching Maxi to go outside I took weewee pads out of the house there was none in the house. If your pup likes weewee pads I would suggest to take the weewee pad outside and make her go on it so she gets used to the idea peeing outside I did it with Maxi a couple of times. After he did the deed on the wee wee pad outside I rewarded him. Then he got the idea. Hopefully after a couple of times you wont need wee wee pad outside. If she pees inside take her out right away and try to make her go and then reward her. I learned that trick worked. Good luck and happy new years to you too!
