I say think of some good comebacks for next time ;) I dress Lacy every day! In fact, she's right here beside me still in her PJs (yes, she even has PJs). She had so many Christmas dresses this year. She wore one half of Christmas eve and one the night of Christmas eve and then another on Christmas day. She has a closet full of clothes :p I had her all dressed up when all our extended family came over. My Granddaddy and his girlfriend always make a fuss over her and say they've never seen such a dressed up dog...they think it's cute. Everyone said how pretty her dress was. I'm sure some of them think I'm crazy but too polite to say it...no one messes with me or my baby ;) |
I have had people ask me why I dress Otis up and why I treat him like a baby, I don't care what anyone says to me. He is my baby, he is the only baby I will ever have because I can't have kids so, I will dress him up and baby him all I want to. He loves to get dressed up in his clothes, he even has a heavy winter coat that I put on him when we go out in the snow or if it is really cold. I wouldn't worry about what anyone says to you. Keep doing what you do and don't change for anyone.... |
Its not foolish at all. I dress mine especially when its cold and I dont care what anyone thinks about it. I also have pictures of them in frames. Dont worry you fit right in on here |

Mogli wears sweaters when it's cold out ... |
Hi....don't feel bad....you dress them if you want to. My three have more clothes than my son as he always reminds me! I live in Miami and there is no reason for me to dress them most of the time but you know what I like them dressed they look cute and it's not their money I'm spending and my skin kids don't want for anything so I will keep dressing them!!! |
I don't think you are foolish. My whole family thinks I am crazy and make fun of me for being on "dorkie talk" all the time. They make fun of Murfee's clothes too. I think they just really like to get a rise out of me. Personally, I think they are nuts.....not me:D |
I believe that everyone had that thing that makes them who they are. For you its your little one. For my DH its his truck. For a friend, they race motorcycles. Who is anyone to say what your thing should or shouldn't be. If its what makes both you and Nina happy, go for it, and ignore them. |
There is not one single thing in this entire world that everyone could believe in, so don't worry about trying to please everyone. Just do what makes you happy, as long as it is in no way harmful. I've never put clothes of any kind on a dog in my entire life till three years ago when I first got Zada then three months later Azrael and on the 21st of this month, Raziel. They have sweaters and jackets and they seem to love wearing them. When we take them places, I don't give a hoot if there is anyone who thinks it isn't normal. They are warm and they look very cute. So continue doing what "you" want. ;) |
Im with you, I had two boys, and now 4 grandsons. My yorkies are loaded with clothes, barrettes, hats, bows, beds, you name it. Even my male yorkies sport boy colored outfits and boys. And they love the attention they get..... Linda |
Truthfully, I can only understand dressing your dogs to an extent. I have some special clothes for my dogs that I put on them for 'special occasions,' but I can't say that they care one way or the other--but if it gets to the point that someone is obsessing over it and their dog has more clothes than they do or more pictures in the house than the skin kids or they are doing without "needs" to make sure the dog has a bow to match the raincoat that they wear on Thursdays when the moon is full....well, that I can't understand. Now, having said that...I do NOT think that is the case with you, nor do I think that you are nuts for dressing your little one for Christmas. Point is, I can see where a non-dog person on the outside looking in might kind of raise an eyebrow. In any case, they shouldn't have criticized you for it or made fun of you. I'm sure there are things that they do that you 'just don't get' either. If it makes you happy, then what does it matter. |
There's nothing wrong with dressing your yorkie :) Most non-dog people don't understand why we fuss over our dogs so much, but that shouldn't matter to you. |

I'm sorry they made you feel silly or stupid! For the first time I have a GIRL yorkie...had two boys previously. Hubby and I have gone round and round about the dressing/topknot/bow issue. I gave in with the boys. I only put their hair up or made them wear a shirt one time so I could get a picture...but with Pep C..well lets just say she doesn't leave the house without being properly dressed! I live in Southern California so it doesn't really get cold enough to dress her but she looks so cute I do it anyway! My family realized 12 years ago when I got my first yorkie that I was one of those insane dog owners and have accepted it. They even invite them to any family get togethers. My mom calls them her Grandpups and spoils them rotten and my daughters have all started calling them their brother or sister! I mourned the loss of my boys just as much as a "family member" and my family knew it. I also have pictures of my pups all over the place! Don't let it get you down...just enjoy your baby however it makes you both most happy! Some people will never understand that they aren't "just dogs". :D |
I think the dog lady is Maria Sharipova the tennis star. I love that commercial. I think it is sweet that you take such loving care of your baby. Dont feel silly. You are a good mom. |
