Looks like the news would be interested in how "on top of things" the police are in that area. If a gun was stolen, that ought to light a fire under them. Have her make big big noises with the local/national news. That poor little furbaby.

I am so sorry that your friend has to go thru this!!! Why are people so mean!! I too live in the country, alone and I am very careful about who knows where I live etc. When I do have to have repair people come out I make it a point to tell them if they ask about Nathan that I am babysitting and his owners are picking him up later on today! I don't ever want to come home and find my furbaby gone !! I would be devastated!! I pray that this baby is found!!! God will work out the rest with the culprits and I hope her airdale is okay too!!!

I have emailed three of the major news stations around here and submitted a letter to the newspaper I'm hoping to be able to email or get in touch with the radio stations next.

I've been hoping she would call me but the last time I spoke to her she was going to try to lay down, she hasn't been to sleep yet.

Good for you!! I love your proactive actions. If nothing else - if you don't find a dog lover - they should be concerned about a gun being stolen, and the law enforcement officers who are too busy parading around - who does that?? They need to be paraded out in front of everyone else to see what clowns they really are!!!!!

Sad thing in this all is like her myself I keep a handgun for protection. Now knowing that it is gone that would make me uneasy. She must report the gun missing in case whomever stole it doesnt use it to hurt or kill someone and it gets traced back to her.. That would be devistating. Tell he to call the police commissioner or the grand marshall for the sherrifs dept. Give the guns serial number and make/model so she can prevent further tragedy.. some dont think about this when they are mourning the loss of their baby... It is important that she makes a fuss especially regarding the gun.......

I'm so sorry about your friend Toby is adorable and so small, i hope whoever took him know how to care for a baby that small! She must be so scared being in her house, is she alone? What are window units? idk cause i live in an apt. That is so scary for her, i will pray for his safe return.

Thankfully she has quite a few more guns, she and her hubby used to be in sharp shooting competitions. I haven't had a chance to talk to her today as I'm sure she is trying to put her house together and get the windows fixed and she also has to take care of her mother whom is in a nursing home and is not going to make it much longer I am getting together with tuesday and will call her tomorrow. I don't know if she has the serial number or I should say have any idea where her husband put it before he left for Iraq. It has been reported to 2 police stations but I am going to insist she report it with the state police.

she's terrified for toby and for being alone in a house with no phones and broken windows, around here there is NOTHING that functions on Sunday's so it all has to wait till tomorrow.
window units are air conditioners that you set in the window and plug into an outlet

Well she's doing ok. She went and reported the gun's serial number to the gun shop where she bought it from because he will contact the feds alot faster than the friggin police dept will. Someone from the police dep. closest to her house called her and told her that they would go ask around the area that the druggies live, but that they couldn't get around to it till the end of the week . I did receive an email from one of the news stations saying that they will be investigating this, thank goodness. Her Airdale is doing better, nothing broken but he's still very sore.
