| delayed affection Brea just turned one in October. She is my smallest dog - right around 4 lbs. (she's the one in my avatar) She was never very affectionate. She didn't want to sit on anyones lap or cuddle or even be pet much. If I wore my bag for her to be in, she would be content in there while we were at someone's house or something. Now, all of a sudden she wants attention and bounces all over the couch to get noticed when I'm sitting there. When I pet her, she will shower me with kisses.... something she NEVER did before. She will lie in my lap and let me pet her for a long time. Is that not weird? I wonder why she changed now? I thought maybe it was just her personality that she just wasn't a real affectionate dog. Anyway... just wanted to share that cause I think it's interesting how she changed right after her 1st birthday. I'm glad she did cause she's a sweetie and I've always wanted her to be a cuddle bug. |

| I can relate , Pepper was never an affectionate dog either, he'd NOT let me hold him at the lap, would try to bounce around and play instead. For a while now, though, he's been trying to get on my lap once I'm sitting down or he does that cutest thing when he climbs on my back, sits on my shoulder and tries to lick all over my neck, ears, whatever he can reach ... He's 1.5 now.

| That's so sweet! Sometimes they do change their personalities...Emma used to NEVER leave our sides. She had to be touching us at all times if we were standing or sitting. Now, she will go and lay on the couch on her own-big improvement! I think she just needed to get over some anxiety issues, and gain some confidence! Sounds like your furbaby might have just realized how nice affection is Now she just can't get enough!

| Jo has done the same thing and he just turned 3. He was always so independant and not affectionate unless there was no way out of it but now he's a little lap baby and wants to snuggle with me all the time. Go figure... |

| Oh I had a boy who did the SAME thing! He was VERY independant, never kissed me, cuddled with me, actually he never sat still for more than 30 seconds HAHA then he got fixed when he was about 6 months old and since then hes a total snuggle bug. Overly done but still a 180 turn around in personality. He is ALWAYS pawing at me to pet him, jumping on me to pick him up and hold him, he wants to be held and cuddled 24/7! (like I said, overly done but hes sooo cute!) he never was a big 'kisser' and hes still not really, but he will 'bathe' me sometimes! COVER one area with kisses for like 10 mins til I have to make him stop! haha He is now almost 2.5 years old and he never went back to his unaffectionate state.

| Yeah, I know what you mean...!!! Maggie used to be very independent and wanted to play all the time, and her fav game was biting ME I thought for a long time that she didn't like me - I even cried a few times because of it - I know, it's crazy But when she turned 1 yr old she completely changed her personality She became very affectionate, not biting me anymore, giving me LOTS of kisses, coming and laying on my lap/next to me, and snuggling w/ me on bed... Now she is 1 yr and 9 months old, and I gotta say that I love my little love bug... |

| I'm glad she turned into a cuddle bug. It feels so nice when they do it. Maybe she was just going through a puppy phase.

| Thank you... I love her hair and I love to dress her up. She looks so cute in clothes, not like some of my other fur butts. That is strange how they just change personalities. I never knew they did that. I loved her before but now there is more of a bond than there was before her "switch." I wonder if other breeds do this or if it is only Yorkies? |

| Roxy just turned 3 and she is the same way. We got her at 6 months and while she wanted to be around you, it was only on her terms. She went from sitting all the way at the end of the couch to snuggling in your arm pit. I too used to feel the distance between us, but now she wants to be Mommy's Little Girl ~ I love the new Roxy! |
