| Miss Mika Yall Miss Mika's behavior has gone from bad to worse....she is now chewing on the baseboards in the kitchen in addition to ripping the wallpaper. We are now walking her on the leash after the storm drain incident, and she is either pulling you like a mule or sitting down and refusing to move. Just when I thought I had her bowl pattern down and could take her out to avoid mistakes so she would "get it", she now will not go, and I feel like I spend my life walking behind her. She's not affectionate, will NOT come when call her to you, and will NOT let you pick her up. She acts like basically she doesn't like us. She's active and playful and entertains herself,. Every once in a while she will bring you her toy to throw for her and inlcude you in her play. Petting her and patting her or rubbing her bellie is mostly OUT, these incidents are few and far between. Now at night is another story. She has got to be the best little sleeping buddy ever, but once the night is over, it's back to usual. I would have never thought that the sweet little puppy who rode from Little Rock to Memphis behind my head would have turned out to be this little terror. Any advice??? |

| Do you work or stay at home? If you're not with her to watch her, don't let her run until she's housebroken and out of the chewing stage..She needs to be confined, and my suggestion is an xpen..I don't care for crating myself.. There are too many things that can hurt her, electrical cords being one, and if they're not confined, they are going to do damange to the house(if they're chewers)..also, you may want to get her a small kong that she can chew on, you can put peanut butter down in them(they have it in the can now also to put in the kong |

| How old is your furbaby? Could your pup have been mistreated when you were not around? Something caused these changes. Always leave "legal" stuff to chew on. Have you worked with a trainer who understands behavior modification? I did when one of my dogs became aggressive to everything that wasn't human after he was attacked by a Rottweiler. He even pulled a friend's parrot out of a tree! (We got to the bird and he was OK.) My babe did calm down after a few sessions. Best of luck. |

| I'd try some training with a trainer. No suggestions, but best luck.

Yes she is crated when we are not at home. I work and the daughter works, but one weekday the daughter is off ,and she gets all attention, then I am off weekends, so it is only 4 days out of the week that she is confined for long. The chewing occurs when daughter is home and lets her have run of the kitchen. Ok what is a Kong please, I need to know.

A Kong is a hard rubber chew toy that you put treats or food inside...it makes them work for their treat and keeps them occupied.

| Maybe getting her more toys could help with the chewing... Dont know how old she is... but just be patient, it could be a puppy thing.

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Abigail sleeps with us, and we don't have her steps up at night for fear one of us will trip over them, getting up during the night. But, when she acts like this, she usually is trying to wake me to let her down to go potty.
