| Excellent thread!!! I agree THANK YOU BREEDERS that stick to the standard's I know it's very hard work, and very expensive to breed the right way.

We think Lady had started to have seizures and her so-called mom just couldn't handle it. I am so glad she found her way to me because she was diagnosed with diabetes just a year and half later. If her first owner wouldn't deal with seizures, I'm sure she wouldn't have treated her diabetes and lady would have died a terrible, unnecessary death. She's such a sweet girl. She's about bankrupt me, but I love her!

Well, I know you've made up for her terrible first home. Hopefully she doesn't even remember it anymore... She's living a good life now for sure!

| Before I found YT I was going to get Yorkie from a pet store at the mall. The more I read the more I realized why I should find a reputable breeder and suck up my urge to "have one right now" and wait until I find the right breeder. The first place I went to was www.ytca.org (Yorkshire Terrier Club of America). They have a list of their members in each state and I emailed every member in CO. If you read the membership requirements it is not easy to become a member and I thought that if you took the time to be a part of the YTCA you have a genuine interest in the breed. Do you know members of the YTCA can't even use the word teacup, tiny specialist, doll faced or anything similar in their advertising? Thats say A LOT! I went to a couple dog shows and met a couple of the YTCA members and they were very helpful. Both of my Yorkies are from one of them and I am so happy I waited. My breeder was going to keep my little Izzy for showing but she didn't grow big enough, she's almost 4 lbs. My breeder said that girls over 5 lbs show better and are much healthier to have litters with. That tells me right there is interested in the breed and the health of her dogs. Where would I be without YT??!

You people deserve every penny you ask for, now when I see pups that are healthy and they look well cared for and the parents looked loved and happy I now know this breeder went the extra mile to do her best and she really cares.... to bad it's not the norm out there....it makes me so sad when I get on this forum and I go into the sick section and see all the ill pups in there... keep teaching, preaching and nagging, I now understand!!!

You have found out what I have been telling local people here for ages. As a breeder, I know my babies are priced higher than what most people around charge for theirs. I have been to some of these peoples homes andd looked at their dogs before I bought my first one. What I saw, didn't even resemble a yoprkie. I didn't even know they were supposed to look different until I got on here a few years ago and started searching and researching. I even had one lady tell me she had never seen a males ears stand up when I asked about the ears. Erect ears are a very big thing for me. This lady has been a breeder for many years. Also, sometimes I get a wild hair you know where and call some of the people in the paper. When I get as far as asking, "what's your bloodline"? They say, what's that? And I tell them thanks and hang up. People jump on those 350-500. dogs around here and most of them are clueless like I was and think they got a good deal because of the money. But when they look at a high quality puppy and realize the difference, they will pay more money.
