She got these two babies thinking she was ready and that it would help her with the grief and it made everything worse. they both got kennel cough within two days of coming home. Lilli had it for two months! Between the meds and the staying up all night worrying about the babies and still grieving over her lost baby, she called panicing that she couldn't do it. I offered to foster the babies and obviously fell in love. BUT, the point is she felt TERRIBLE about giving them up after she'd only had them two weeks. Did she not love them? No, she ADORED them! She just couldn't handle it. It happens to EVERYONE! She called me EVERY DAY, TWICE A DAY for about a month to check on them. I finally sent her a letter "signed" by the puppies with their paw prints asking if she would officially be their godmother. We go visit her all the time now and it seems to work out great for her. She cried and cried over giving them up and for two months I told her all she had to do was say it and I would give them back. But she refused, because she knew that she wasn't mentally ready to take another baby yet. It pisses me off when people judge others for giving an animal up before they know what that person's situation is. |
