| Puppy Diapers Hi! This is my first post! My baby girl, Piper, is 5 months old and not reliable at all when it comes to going on the pee-pads. Actually, I think when she does go on them, it's just dumb luck that she hit the pad! Hopefully she'll catch on soon..although I'm not counting on it. Anyway, my thought is to get some cute puppy diapers so that I can at least take her to my friend's houses and my parent's place without worrying about their carpet and etc. and creating a stressful situation. I tried the little plastic ones from the pet store (they look like baby disposable diapers) and she thinks it is great fun to curl up and shred the plastic off of them. Whee! So...any suggestions on what to do? I'm really new to this! |

| Puppy diapers This is my first post too. I've been lurking. I also have an almost 5 month old Yorkie CoCo. I purchased 2 of the reusable diapers called "Pooch Pants" from a local pet store. They are very absorbent and washable. They did cost $20 a piece. They also sell the kind you put pads in for around $16. I am using them when I can't watch her every move. I kept my now 12 month old Pom in an x pen during training and never used a diaper, but Coco would cry all day watching the Pom out roaming the house. We go outside to potty on the hour. Fortunately for me CoCo doesn't mess with the Pooch Pants at all. They are kinda ugly though. I wish they came in pink. I bought some ruffly baby tights, and am going to cut them to fit over the diaper lol! Good luck Last edited by CoCo Puff Stuff; 11-28-2007 at 08:31 PM. |

| Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I'm laughing to myself about Tinkerbell's closet, as I *just* received a cute coat and a harness in the mail today from there and they are the cutest things ever! It never occurred to me to see if they had diapers as well! I just love that site. I'll post pictures of Piper as soon as I figure out how to make things work. Thanks again! |

| You would probably want to use the rewashable kind. I have a Piper too, but he's a little boy. Welcome to YT.

| Welcome to YT I too, was a little frustrated in the begining w/ potty training. I thought the quick fix would be to buy diapers. However, someone told me that it can help to discourage your pup from learning how to go potty the right way. Its kinda' like "why learn, if they can go whenever/wherever"... ya know. So, I didnt buy them, and I became extremely persistant and patient in assisting her with potty training and now at 8 mo's shes great She started her heat recently and I had to purchase some diapers for her. It was convenient when we traveled during the recent holiday. So, I guess what Im trying to say is that... I can see the benefits of using them to travel and not have to worry about accidents. I wouldnt use them at home, for fear that will slow down her training... JMO

| Okay..ordered some really cute diapers. Can't wait until they arrive! I'm thinking the next challenge will be to get them on my wriggly puppy! Thanks so much for the advice about not having her wear them at home all the time...I confess that the thought did cross my mind! But it totally makes sense that this would really hold up the training process. |
