| Eww.... Hello all, I would like to say this is a great website, I am a research freak and when I decided to get a yorkie, I did a lot of research online and bumped into this great website where I know I am not alone. Question: My yorkie Bailey is 14 weeks old and is already starting to hump - arms mostly. Isn't he too young to be behaving like this? Anyone else experience this or know how to curb this? |

| Ollie use to do my arm...lol. He was neutered at 6 months and no longer does my arm or anything else except sometimes 2 of his yorkie friends that are both males when they are playing... but i have learned that is to show dominance. |

| Believe me, it's NOT just males that do this, females also hump things..My shih tzu used to hump a little teddy bear she had, and my sons golden retriever(she's 2) humps our german shepherd(also a girl)...Infact, just yesterday I had to yell out at her to get off of her..I know one day, the neighbor stopped me and asked if my dogs had been fixed, because if NOT I would be having a surprise in a couple mos...I started laughing and said, well, the retriever has been spayed, and our girl is getting fixed in a week(the shepherd at that time hadn't as of yet been spayed)..so, girls can and do hump also..it's a dominace thing.. |

| It's always a good idea to neuter your little guy if you aren't going to breed him. That said, Gizmo still humps and he was neutered a month ago. It's not sexual, it really is a dominance thing. He doesn't make contact either. He just makes the motions. I have no idea about how young to neuter. We waited, but it was mainly because I was a wus and kept putting it off.

| The vets here in SC like to wait until 5-6 mos on the little ones like this(they shouldn't mark until they get sexually mature), sometimes, they will neuter a family pet as early as 4 mos, but they really don't like too..Now they do neuter as young as 6 weeks, but, those are ONLY the dogs at the humane society/animal shelters.. |

| Reece started humping young but I always put a stop to it right away..with a firm NO..now if he starts (he is neutered now and still tries once in a while) I just yell a firm NO..and he instantly stops..its important to stop him young...the second he starts with your arm stand up and say NO and then sit back down again...repeat as necessary lol... | If you do a search on "humping" here on YT, you'll find that you are not alone!
