Crystalsmom, I need to check if mine has an on/off switch.
But it is plugged in behind the crate with the piddle pad

Okay, thanks to you, i just put one in the dining area and
I noticed that it is different from the one I have near the crate ...
this one has an on/off switch and a silent clean and quick clean ...
the other one I have has a rotary knob with the months on it to remind me when to change the filter (different model I guess)

I have 4 Yorkies and 2 kids. I use Lestoil to clean (a little stronger than Pinesol) and I also caught on to a new trick. If you put a pan of water with a few cinamon sticks in it on the stove to simmer, the fragrance goes through the entire house. It smells like fresh baked apple pie. Just check to make sure you keep water in it.

I have 3 children (ages 2, 4 & 7), a Boxer, a Yorkie, A cat, a rabbit, a hamster, and 3 guenia pigs living in my house (and a husband). I vaccum everyday, once a week I sprinkle the carpets with Baking soda and let it sit for 20 min. I also clean my hardwood and ceramic tile every day with water and vinager. You would never know I had all of those animals my house does not smell and I don't use any air fresheners (I can't stand the smell of them). I have to say that I am a clean freak. It seems like a lot of work, but if you get yourself into the habit it is pretty easy. My house is about 3000 square feet and it takes me 1.5 hours a day to keep it clean and fresh. It helps that I am a stay at home mom so I just do things between naps.

I have to sweep and mop daily since I keep my grandbaby...She has learned to "share" her food with the boys....They catch some and the rest hits the floor....

Arm & Hammer is great for the carpets.....Vacuum daily...Frebreeze is great for the furniture....

The best thing for the air I have found is WallFlowers from Bath & Body Works.....They are great....They are a plug in....Everyone comments on them....have even got my daughters hook on them...lol

You can get the cinnamon sticks on the baking aisle at your local grocers....Another great tip is to use vanilla w/ water and let it simmer on the stove...You can get festive and add whole cloves to it also.....Really smells great....these were tricks my Granny used when she gave herself a hair permanent. Kept the house from smelling....

Iam also a big lysol fan.not in the furkids area, just in the bath and kitchen.

I'll do this same thing with cinnamon and vanilla or I'll use lemon or orange peel also. The orange is great with the cinnamon! I also will open windows and turn on the attic fan - it's great for pulling in fresh air quickly.

I also find that my boyfriend and my habit of cooking dinner from all fresh ingredients nightly helps with freshness. My boyfriend's sister in law always complains to me that she tries her best to get rid of the smell of cooking, but in my mind there is nothing better than walking in to a house that is buzzing with the smells of a home cooked meal. It makes me feel warm and happy. Reminds me of my grandmother's house, where no matter when you stop by, there is always something delicious on the stove. Plus, we clean the kitchen every time we cook (wash dishes, wipe counters, sweep floors), which helps with the cleanliness and freshness all over.

I have a vanilla-scented candle burning right now while my boyfriend and I are spending an evening on the couch with Jesse curled up by our feet.

My apartment has never smelled like dog. Not even a little.

The cinnamon/vanilla/citrus simmer sounds like a genius idea, too. I'm definitely going to give that a try.

I'm going to be 110% honest.. My "apartment" (3rd floor of my parents home) use smell horrible of dirty cat litter (til I got the hang of what to mix in and what not) and dogs.. This week, I ripped up the carpet and now in the process of laying wood vinyl flooring and swiffering every other day or so.. I get my yankee candles for $10 and I burn them for an hour or so every other day.. I'm not a fan of flowery smells or fake old women perfume smells... When there is poo on one of the pads, I just use air freshner to spray the area real quick... It doesn't smell of animals and you'd never know I had any (unless you heard them barking and running all over the place!

I have to admit that I don't have an odor problem. I have all tile and wood floors. Conner is potty trained outside so I don't use pee pads. I wash his blankets weekly (which I line his beds with). The only smell I have is Conner's mustache when he eats the cow tails or flossies. I wash his face before bed each night.

and my Steam Cleaner pulls up a ton of "deep down" hair that my vacuum cleaner doesn't. I also have really good smelling candles burning (my own

) and lots of air freshener sprays to use when I'm NOT burning candles

I also spritz my furniture with spray (I use Febreeze and ALL) that is safe for fabrics just to freshen things up a bit even more

Haha yes, I sure do

I have been doing it for almost 7 years now. I actually have a small candle business BUT - I took a looong break from it as it got very overwhelming for me doing it all by myself. It took years of learning how to do it all (it is actually a little more complicated than one might think) - and since you are dealing with an open flame when the candle is lit, you have to be very careful and really know what your doing

There is a lot of precise measuring, and you have to be constantly cautious about heat temps, flash points, etc. It's NOT cheap either. The wax ALONE is well over $100
