I have two boys, and I absolutely love them!! They are both very loving and affectionate and just so sweet! I'm not looking for another yorkie right now, but I honestly wouldn't mind another boy. I do think about a little girl, but I just love the dispositions of the boys.....or, at least my boys.:) |
 did i read someone saying they don't like male yorkies cos their penis covers most of their underside????? Buddy has a serious complex now, lets just say he is NO WAY anywhere near that well endowed, WOW what sort of yorkies are you breeding over there if it covers HALF their underside! :) As for leg lifting yes Buddy does (never indoors) but he's far to lazy to hoik his leg up high, its normally just a waggle in the air barely off the ground and i think even if i had a female yorkie i'd still want to wash their underneath everyday anyway. I love the boys, they definately seem to be cuddlier, Buddys not happy unless he's cuddled up with one of us, and personally i find it easier to cuddle and love a boy dog (dunno why) And for those of you with a'penis phobia' i hope you're boyfriends or husbands to be don't read this! lol :p |
I would LOVE a biewer their beautiful!!! maybe one day I can afford another yorkie!! |
i love, love, LOVE my little boy but would definitely look for a little girl next. i like variety! but when i am ready to add another yorkie to my life, i will choose whichever one i fall in love with. i was looking for a little girl when i got dexter too! |
Add me to the list of someone who would only own a female dog. All my reasons have already been mentioned by other posters. I do have two kids that are boys but for pets, I'd only ever own a female. |
I got a female Yorkie because I wanted a princess, so we could be girly together. I would like three Biewers to breed (2 females and 1 male). They would all have to be within standard but I do not want any tinies Yorkie or Biewer (I consider tinies 3 1/2 pounds and under). I know boys are loving but, in the Yorkie breed especially, I prefer the females because I think they have the whole Yorkie personality since Yorkies are such a matriarchal breed. Now if I was getting a Boxer, I would probably prefer a male. But if you wanna give me a little boy I would be glad to take it.;) |
I've had more boy dogs then girl dogs. I'd take a boy biewer. Did you want to send me one of the leftovers cuz they only want the girls. LOL ;) |
when i got skoshi i had the choice between him or his sister and i picked him!! he was way cuter! and sweeter! i now have a female and she too is way sweet! i dont know what her temperment will be like when shes older but right now she is very loving! way more than skoshi was when he was her age! i would love to have another female but if i found a boy i fell in love with then i would get a male! We got really lucky with skoshi he doesnt mark anything in the house any more (knock on wood lol) but he did have his time! he will be a 1 year in December and he doesnt mark anymore! I would be scared if i got another male i wouldnt be as lucky tho! but females do have more options when looking for cute accessories! so i guess it would be just whoever i fell in love with hahaha! |
Growing up we always had males, shelties and they were never neutred, (back in the 60's I guess peopel edidn't do it that much) My first Yorkie was a male and he lived at my parents house and marked everywhere, Then I got Zorro, he didn't mark as much as much but did some. He was the sweetest little guy. Then I decided to switch to females and got Gracie who was a real sweetheart too. She had accidents too but not like my males did. So I stuck with females and have Maya, Cali and Pixie and Maya is very good about not peeing in the house, Cali is pretty good at using the pee pads, Pixie is not very good at housebreaking, but getting better. I would absolutely get an adult fixed female in the future, that's what Pixie was. |
I personally think the boys are the sweetest. Sebastian is the most loving dog I have ever had. He never leaves my side. I personally think a lot of people do like the girls because they can dress them up. When I still had Penny I dressed her all the time, but that didn't take away from the handsomeness of my boys. I would suggest from personal experience not to overlook a boy just because you can't dress them up. It might be the biggest mistake you ever made. |
I'm partial to females because of the "marking" issue. I know that not all male dogs mark but I'm not willing to take the chance. That's the only reason I'll only have females. |

Our first Yorkie was a little girl...We did not pick the sex....My best friend bred her Yorkies and Emmi had a little girl which was given to my daughter. Then when my friend bred again(3 yrs later) they had 1 little boy and I got him. That was Marshall. He had problems though and passed away. Well, when I finally decided I was ready for another, we drove for hours to meet this Yorkie girl that was looking for a home....She was a teapot but that did not matter to me....She was 9 lbs I think??? We saw HUGE RED FLAGS..So we left as fast as we could....I was willing to take her but Hubby said no way was he giving that lady any money...BTW, size was not the issue...In the truck on the way home, I was on the laptop on YT and saw where Lisa had posted about these little boys....I begged hubby to go look at them. So we had to drive an additional 5 hours....We visited for a good while with the breeder and her pups...Barney came right up and plopped down on my foot and started licking me....The other one hid behind his pen....So we took Barney....A couple weeks later was talking to breeder and she mentioned they still had Bennie...So after some begging to hubby...We made another road trip and got him too.... I am the only female in a house full of males now that all the kids are gone....I would love dearly for a female to dress and love...But I have decided if the right "one" comes along then great...Be it male or female....I am just going to enjoy and love my boys til then... Sorry this is so long.. Joyce |
Funny but I would probably get another male dog if I could get another one!! Dawn |
For me, it is several things. The biggest one is the peeing bit. Even if girls dribble a little pee pee here and there, it is one thing to get a little off your floor, it is another to have it soaked into the side of your sofa  . The other part is that I have two sons. I wanted a girl, and I gave it two tries. So my girl dog is the daughter I never had. I get to put dresses on her, bows in her hair, and just enjoy the fact that she's a girl. |
