i got 2 male dogs now.and i loss my female yorkie.so i am looking for female yorkie to be my princess.:) |
:) I guess I am the wrong person to ask this question to..I have 3 boys & one girl, 1 male GSD, 2 puppies boy and girl, I am planning on keeping Jasmine, but to be honest with Chunky fits in better with my crew.....I guess you can say I adore the boys...but I hate the leg lifting, love belly bands, so I personally always go for boys....:) |
All my pets (2 himalayan cats & 1 yorkie) are female. I've always only wanted female animals. I'm not sure exactly why. I know I've always said if I had a child (which I don't plan to) it better be a girl because I wouldn't know what to do with a boy. Same with my pets I guess. With girls I get to name them pretty, feminine names and they're my little girls. I will never buy a male cat just because I like to buy females. I want a flame point himalayan one day and females are hard to come by (most orange cats are male). I would like to have 4 female dogs total eventually (3 yorkies and 1 maltese) and possibly one male yorkie one day (but I'm still undecided about that and he'd probably come last after I have all the girls). I wouldn't care if my females were a little older and spayed before I got them (my younger cat I got at 5 months old and she had already been spayed)...it's actually kindof nice to have it already done. With Lacy, I loved being able to name her a girly name and having her as my "daughter". Of course I love dog clothes and am just obscessed with cute dresses. They are making some cute boy clothes too but there are so many more cute girl clothes than boy clothes. The penis on male dogs kindof grosses me out too...it's just so obviously there and you can't cover it up. It takes up a good portion of their underside and it's hard to not touch it when you pick them up. for some reason it just grosses me out. At least if you grow their hair long, you can't see the penis anymore but then they pee on their hair and stink. Male dog urine stinks much worse than female urine too and is usually more concentrated. Rylie (parent's yorkie that I'm taking care of right now) peed on my carpet and it was so yellow! I had to scrub and scrub and there is still a stain there :( Also, male dogs tend to hump which is annoying. And the leg lifting annoys the crap out of my for some reason. I just don't understand why they can't just squat. If I get a male, he'll be neutered ASAP in hopes he won't develop bad habits, lift his leg, and maybe his penis will stay tiny. I know males tend to me sweeter and more clingy whereas females tend to be more independent but I guess I kindof like my pets to be independent (but still sweet and cuddly at times). I love Rylie but he will pester the crap out of me sometimes, constantly wanting me to play with him (whereas Lacy can entertain himself). Anyways, I guess I just really like having female animals because I just like having all "my girls" around. If I had a boy yorkie, everyone would think he was a girl because he'd be wearing bows and cute clothes (and I like the girly boy clothes). People have mistaken Rylie for a girl since I've had him. Also, males tend to mark and I know there are belly bands but I don't really want to have to use belly bands on one of my dogs |
Growing up, we always had female dogs. My Dad always said that the males mark all over and they're always trying to hump your let, etc....We also always had large dogs. When I saw Teddy, I had no idea if he was a male or female. He was the only one of the litter with his coloring, the others were all "normal" yorkies and I fell in love with his colors and his sweet little face. It wasn't until I was ready to purchase him that the breeder told me he was a male. (it never ocurred to me to ask because I just fell in love with him). I was a little worried, but it was too late, I couldn't stop myself. He used to try and hump the cat before we had him neutered, but that has stopped and he never tried to hump any people. He has never marked anywhere in the house or outside, and he was the easiest puppy I have ever trained - potty, tricks, etc.... I guess I'm rambling, but the point is, I was always led to believe that Male dogs were just more trouble than they're worth but I have come to realize that their gender has nothing to do with it. Its their individual personalities, just like people!:D |
Interesting answers. I have 1 neutered male, and 2 intact males. The neutered one is the one who on occasion will lift his leg to mark. Even the girls lift their leg on the pee pads so they don't get their feet or fur wet. |

Hey i am with you on the teapot dog... Jax is 10 # and the best dog ever ever ever ... he is so sweet never fusses , lets me brush him daily , he loves to play and he only cries when he wants to play... oh and really he does not like the clothes ... but wears them to make me happy hehe. |
Teddy hardly ever lifts his leg to pee, maybe he's having an identity crisis:D |
It's the same situation with Yorkies for the most post. Clients as for females and size. |
I guess I can answer this because I'm getting a little biewer girl.. :D I've always loved females and it has everything to do with male genitals (no I'm not trying to be sick either). I do not like the idea of testicles on animals. I do not like the idea of "marking" or "spraying". My dog before my yorkies was an american bulldog/pitbull mix and I had him neutered THE minute his testicles dropped. As he matured, he never got that hard feel or look to his winky which made it better (I commited myself to him because of his temperament with people so I wasn't going to throw him out because of his winky :p ).. But, he did mark and at 110lbs, it was one HECK of a mess to clean up! I have a male cat who I absolutely adore but didn't want because I'm not a cat person and he is a male. I know female cats spray as well.. lol but again, I'm not a cat person.. My girls are more affectionate than my bfs two dogs (who could care less if you paid attention to them) whereas my girls BEG to sit on my lap, beg to sit on the couch with me, or they just plain flat out DIE to be near me.. Which I love.. Hope that made sense.. I kinda bounced all over the place.. |
most post? lol, excuse me, that's suppose to be most part |
I just want a girl so badly because i want to put pink on something.... i am surrounded by BOYS.... 5 skin boys, 1 male yorkie and 1 male chihuahua. Oh and the hubby!!!! I want a little girl so bad it brings tears to my eyes sometimes!!! My chi was an anniversary gift 7 years ago and my hubby thought the sex didnt make a difference-- and then Ollie was a (long story) gift from my son. My boys are sweet and goofy and dont whine and loveable and lots of wonderful things-- but i just need a girl!! But i think most want girls due to the rumors of boys humping and marking. Growing up we never had a boy dog because my dad claimed they took off for days looking for a gf......etc. Boys seem to of gotten a bad rap!! i really wouldnt trade mine for anything but o to just get to say "SHE" or "HER"!!! |
Male or female was not a factor when I was looking for my furbutt. In fact, I leaned more toward a male since I've always had males, but Lucy chose me and ended up being a female. Also, size was NOT a factor for me. I did want to stay under 10 lbs since I would be carrying her/him with me a lot. Now I would love to have a teapot! |
The only one of mine that marks(when outside) is my female shih tzu that is going on 10..she will go all over the whole fenced in acre lifting her leg |
