| ![]() I just wanted to say welcome to YT. I hope you get the answers you need tomorrow. A second opinion may be worth investigating.

Why wasn't she spayed on an emergency basis when is got a pyometra (uterine infection). That is usually standard protocol and, as long as you wren't planning on breeding her, should have been done. I would consider looking for another vet...

| ![]() When she was diagnosed with uterine infection i was confident that i could trust my vet to do whatever she thought necessary and give the very best treatment to make sure my baby was ok. I wasn't aware that spaying her at that time would have been a good idea? I'm not an expert on vetinary medicine i just love my dogs very much and always want whatever is best for them. Will start looking for new vet as you suggested |

| ![]() Well, I'm not an expert either but a pyometra is extremely dangerous. Giving meds can work but isn't a guarantee. The best is to do an emergency spay which is what most vets will do. Maybe your vet had a reason though?

| ![]() Good luck in the search for a new vet......definately have her spayed, it can be done.....Do not consider the morning after pill, it has been known for adverse affects...mostely death in yorkies.

| ![]() Yes, with pyometria the dog should be spayed if you aren't planning on using her for breeding, along with giving antibiotics. I worked for a vet for 4 years that would spay while dogs were in heat - he charged more because it took longer and there was more vessel ligating and blood involved.
