| Fighting? Most of the time Bentley and Griffin get along really well and play chase and wrestle multiple times a day. Every once in awhile (maybe once every couple of months) they get really mad at each other and their playing turns to fighting where they are both growling and going at each other and it takes us awhile to break it up. I think it happens when one is in a bad mood and the other steals his toy or something I swear they are just like children! Does anyone else's yorkies get into fights like this sometimes? |

| When Zowie was about 4 week pregnant, she and Bronx got into these horrible fights. They are just starting to get better, but we had been patient long enough. My husband took the flyswatter and hit the wall last time they were fighting. They both ran! They were actually hurting each other, and you couldn't pull them apart. It was so bad we kept them completely separated for 2 months. Now, no more tolerance. They are too little to spank, but they are scared of paper hitting the walls, too. Sometimes water works - if you do that, be sure you mark the bottle well as not to spray them with Windex or something.

| Have you tried shaking coins in a tin can when they start fighting? I know Yoda hates it and usually stops what he is doing when we do that... |

| Any two living things, regardless of age, gender, or form will fight. It's human nature. The only way for a living creature to not fight, is to be an only child. I let mine work out their problems. They have never hurt each other. One may come up with some hair in the mouth, but that's about it.

| I had such a problem with my oldest an my middle aged bitch. The oldest was neutered an the other not, that caused the problems. Because the second was not good for breeding we decided to neuter her too, also because she hated puppies before and we wanted to buy a new show bitch. Since that happened, there have never been any problems with fights. The youngest one had her first heat two weeks ago and no problems with too. I think it depends a little bit on the temperament of the dogs too. My one´s were both very dominant and that caused the problems. |

| My Yorkie and Maltese fight and every now and then I will hear a little yip from the Maltese, but then he goes back for more. It appears they are playing but seems pretty brutal to me. Our trainer told us to let them work it out and unless we see blood, dogs will be dogs and to leave them alone. Sometimes Gracie, the Yorkie who is 3 pounds larger than the Maltese can get a little overexcited and that is when we bring out the spray bottle.

| Simon and Hallie do this too every few months. Lately I've been very worried about it since Hallie is stealing Simon's favorite toy (his soccer ball) but they haven't fought over it (yet)! I usually make a loud noise and they stop then they are fine but it still scares the heck out of me! |

| Something my mom used to do... When I was growing up my mother bred Dashounds and once and a while they would scuffle. I remember seeing her throw a blanket ( or towel or coat or whatever was handiest! ) over them and it would shock them enough to stop so she could grab them. That way she would be protected a bit too just in case she got in there way. Worth a shot?

| Since Bo is 9 yo and Duncan is 12 weeks Bo will charge after him when he is being bothered by Duncan. I hear a yelp from Duncan but in 2 seconds he is back to playing. Just not with Bo. I think that when Duncan gets older Bo will want to play more. Bo does not like little puppies and that is his only way to say "NO" is to nip. |

| My babies only fight when it comes to food - but they don't really "fight". Codie is about 7 or 8 lbs (I have to weight him to be exact) and Katie is 2.6 lbs. Since Codie is bigger, he tends to grab her food from her and eat it. He's a lot faster! Anyway, when Katie is chewing on a bully stick or a greenie and Codie comes over EVEN TO KISS HER, she GROWLS at him and nips once or twice - not hard, but enough to tell him to back off. They have never hurt each other (thank goodness). I guess Katie has to be food aggressive because Codie never gives her a chance to eat her treats! He's a piggy! LOL

| Thanks for the advice. I'm glad my boys aren't the only ones who do this. I'll try the jar of coins next time. I'm also inclined to let them duke it out next time and see what happens, but it is pretty fierce fighting so that scares me a little bit. Oh well - hopefully they just won't fight anymore! Most of the time they are best friends and are side-by-side constantly and do everything together, but I guess sometimes it's our best friends that we have the worst fights with too! |

| MeganS it's funny you mention that about the water bottle. The water bottle I have scares Simon to pieces but Hallie LOVES it! As soon as she sees it she open her mouth really wide because she wants a drink! I need to take a picture, it is too funny! |
