Concerned Mommy. Please help! Chewy has been throwing up a LOT lately. - About a week ago she threw up 5 times in the middle of the night. - Wednesday 2 times (once on the couch which she would never normally do. - Yesterday she threw up in the morning before breakfast. - Today she threw up 5 times. Four times before breakfast. For breakfast I gave her a few cheerios and she only ate a few peices of Canidae dry food. She hasnt had anything else to eat all day and just now threw up again. I gave her a little Nutri Cal but i dont know if i should give her dinner??? She is throwing up yellow foam/liquid, no food b/c its usually in the morning before she has eaten. What do you guys think it could be. I think ill take her to the vet on Monday but other than the throwing up she is her usual self, playing and running around as usual. (She has ring worm, but is not taking anythign oral just a shampoo which we havent used since last Tuesday. Dont know if that makes a dif.)

Usually the foamy white/yellow throw up is bile, or stomach acid. It seems like she is throwing up quite a bit though. Maybe you could try boiled hamburger w/rice for her... you just cook it up and mix together. The vet always tells me to do this when they have an upset stomach but there are no other immediate symptoms. I'd take her to the vet on Monday if the symptoms stay the same (just the throwing up).

If she were mine, I wouldn't wait until Monday to consult a vet. Do whatever you can to get and keep her hydrated in the meantime. These babies go downhill very quickly.

Any one else...any advice? I read on here that something about them throwing up if they have an empty stomach. Could this turn up even if she has never done if before. Before the last week or two she only threw up about once every 2-3 months and i think thats when she ate or drank too much...

My moms dogs were doing the same thing, she took them to a very good vet, he said that all this food people are giving their dogs(yes, even chicken) is NOT good for them. Mom always put a little bit of boiled chicken in her dogs food, well, the vet told her NO MORE...give them this food(he prescribed it for her), and no more treats, except one low fat kind he had there..she did as she was told and no more throwing up! My dogs get one little treat in the morning, and then their hard dry food is down until 5:00 then it's pulled up..hardly ever do I see them throw up, unless they pick up a little virus..but, for the most part, they are very healthy...try not giving her anything but her food, she will eat when she gets hungry.

Try some cold water, keep an eye on her food intake. Not to much, sounds like a sour stomach. Is she lethargic? Or is she acting normal?

She had dinner about an hour ago and is now napping since she's been up all day with us. She was acting absolutely normal. Played with my boyfriend and sat around watching us clean the apt all day. She doesnt seem lethargic/sick in any way except the throwing up which now that i think about it has always been on an empty stomach. Maybe she is just hungry in the morning and doesnt eat the dry food that i leave out for her because she waits for me to put yummy food on top of it.

| If she is playing and acting normal. I wouldn't worry. Just make sure she is taking in water if she continues to vomit. I would not change her diet. Look and see if her food has wheat. Wheat tends to bloat them up. With my 4 Yorkies, I notice they have sour stomach. Yes! Mostly when their stomachs are empty and not enough water. I might be wrong but I have acepted this problem with my Yorkies. As long as they are acting normal and taking in plenty of water I am not alarmed. If she changes and becomes lethargic I would not waste time, I would take her to the Vet or Pet Hospital. Remember they are small and can become dyhdrated very quickly.

this is the problem, she's getting too much people food and not wanting to eat her food that she needs. This is why giving our dogs our food is NOT good for them..ask any vet, they will tell you that..Like I said before, mom was giving hers a little bit of her boiled chicken every night or some other people food, once she quit, they quit throwing up..

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Mine would throw up occassionally when they had empty tummies. I also cut out all people fod including chicken and keep them on an all dog food diet, California Natural and the only treat they get is the California Natural Health Bar and they are so much better.

She eats about 1/3 cup of Canidae every day and some healthy human food with it. My vet approved the foods that I give her...meats, fish, carrots, peppers, celery and very little rice. Since she is 1.5 and has been eating all these foods since i got her with no problems ever before I am not too concerned that its the food. I will however, keep an eye on her for a day or two and cut the human food a little so she eats more Canidae. Thanks everyone for your insight...i feel a lot better knowing that its common on an empty stomach. I will have to wake up before her on weekends so she gets something in her belly early.
