| Niko ...and his chew toy.. Which apparently is me.. He constantly wants to chew on me.. How can I break him of this? I always tell him "NO BITE" and attempt to take my hand away. To no avail.. How can I show Niko that I am NOT his chew toy. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | if a dog is trying to chew on my fingers i first make my hand into a fist. This leaves no fingers to chew on, and a fist just isn't as fun so they stop. If they continue to chew i will say no bite and take my hand away (there is no attempting, i just do it. This is a tiny dog, so standing up with put fingers out of reach). After you say no bite and take your hand away, replace it with something good for him to chew on.

| when bella was a baby i used the cesar milan method. now it works for everything. i get her attention by making a shush sound. I started by putting my finger on her nose and making the shush noise. she would look at me and stop doing what she was doing. i would use just my pointer finger... just a feather tap. now anytime she is jumping up for attention and i cant get to her ...like when i am on the toilet!, i just say shush..and she sits there quietly until i am done. then of course i give her what she wants. has worked well for us! |

| I am certainly gonna give it a try. He's not an aggressive dog. Just when he gets in "play" mode...he starts the chewing on people. Thanks again! I'll be sure to let you know how this turns out...LOL |
