| Introduction, and a question or two... I'm new here and thought I should say hello. I don't have a Yorkie, but one of my best childhood buddies was a yorkie and something, I think poodle. I've wanted another ever since then, but I think I might finally be unable to resist, so I thought I'd try to educate myself a bit, and this looked like a good place to do that. One question that struck me while digging for information: Are yorkies sensitive to the cold? Or are all these little shirts and outfits just for the sake of cuteness overdose? May sound like a silly question, but I live near Houston, Texas so I know all about the dangers of higher temps, but no clue about cold. The dog I had as a kid had some sweaters and jackets but it was never cold enough to put them on her. It was always funny just to pick them up and watch her try to jump into them herself though lol. |

| Hi there, and welcome to YT! I think most of us do dress our furbabies just cuz they look so darn cute... But, just like us - they get cold and hot too...

| Now, years ago, there was no such thing as clothes for dogs, and there were yorkies years ago, so, it's more for show than anything..I have seen the smaller yorkies shake more often, because they're so tiny, my 14 lb one is always hot(just like me)..I have 4 little dogs(3 yorkies and a shih tzu), they go outside every night to run, with nothing on but their hair.. Guess you have to decide if you want to dress them up or not, the choice is yours..I do have a little cheap coat I bought for the 14 week old yorkie, I put it on her one night when I sat outside with her, but, now that she's out there running with the other 3, I leave it off her.. |
