| ![]() People ask me all the time, but it depends on why they ask. If it's just curiousity, then I usually say "you can't put a price on this face". Now if the person is asking because they're thinking of getting one, then I usually say "they usually sell for xamount to xamount depending on if they have papers, etc". I was at an indoor dog park one time, and there's this guy who comes all the time with his Italian Grayhound. I think his dog is absolutely gorgeous, so we were talking and I asked how much he paid for his. I wasn't trying to be rude, I just wanted to know how much dogs like his went for and maybe I would consider getting one, one day.... Was that rude of me? |

| ![]() Maybe people ask because they think they're so cute, that they would like to buy one for themselves, and are wondering if they can afford one..?? Now, whats really rude was my old vet, when I took my $2800 biewer in to be neutered, I got the $45 voucher so it wouldn't cost over $100, well, right in front of about 6 people, he said what kind of dog is that? I said a german yorkie, he said I bet that cost at least $2500 and I'm doing it for charity?? I never went back(and he was such a good vet) ![]() |

| ![]() It makes me uncomfortable as well when people ask how much they cost. I always just change the subject and act as if I never heard the question. When we went to get Marcus, we were babysitting a neighbor's child (12 years old). I didn't want to take him with us but had no choice. When he overheard how much he cost, his eyes almost popped out of his head. I told him that was confidential and that noone else needed to know that information. The next day, his best friend came by to see Marcus and started shouting he couldn't believe we paid that much. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() I think that vet was trying to be a comedian. But yeah, that was pretty rude of him. I guess I figure if people were interested in buying one, they'd go out and look and therefore find out how much they go for. I think I'd rather have somebody ask me "How much do these dogs go for?" than to straight out ask me how much I paid. I've had people compliment me on a handbag I'm carrying or something that I'm wearing, but they don't ask me how much I paid for it. I wish people would just compliment and not ask when it comes to Mocha too ![]() Quote:

| ![]() I have the same thing. First they come up and say "how cute," then how much did you pay for that dog. I usually do not answer unless it is someone that I know that is trying to purchase one and wants to know the price that they go for. I even get weird questions from people asking what type of dog is it. I think Yorkies have a rather distinctive look and how do people not know what they are, but ask how much they cost.

| ![]() We've had people comment with "that's an expensive dog, huh" to "how much did you pay for her?" We tend to ignore questions like that. I am always paranoid someone will try and steal her. I only reveal her price to family or friends .

| ![]() I hate it when people ask...it is so very rude! I think it is different if they are actually interested in the breed but just to be nosy is awful. And I hate it when people call her a rat!! It drives me nuts. I don't walk up to strangers and make comments about their how much their things costs or that their children look like aliens!! I think some people were born without manners! |

| ![]() I think I'll start saying Barney was a gift...I mean he kinda was. My Hubby paid for him. He knew I wanted another Yorkie and it had been a while since Odie had passed and he said "that is a great price, lets just go look" I knew then Mish(hubby) missed having Odie around to. |

| ![]() Yes, I have had strangers ask me that and I think it is rude and quite frankly none of their business. That would be like walking up to someone and asking how much money they make. When someone asks me that, I just say, "Why? Are you looking for one?" They usually don't push it then. |

And now that we are on this topic of how much did your dog costs you I hate it when people tell ME that I spend too much money on my dog (Which I Do! LOL). Its like I dont tell you how much money you spend on make up, books or whatever the hell your hobby is! I so hate it when people are like, I cant believe u bought a dog a dress, a coat, blankets or carriers. Its like who the hell cares and mind your freaking buiness!! Its my baby and whatever my baby wants she gets!! Sorry guys, I had to vent, it just drives me crazy!!!!!!!

| ![]() This pisses me off so bad! Whenever I first got Lilly the girls at school were like "how much did your boyfriend pay for her?" and I hesitated on saying anything because in the town I live in money is a big thing. We only payed $700 for her but as soon as I told them they were like ![]()

| ![]() Considering the setting and the circumstance, I don't think it was rude of you to ask. It's a different story when a random stranger comes up to you and the only question they ask about your dog is how much did you pay for him/her. It just makes them come off as nosey. Quote:
