Her and I talk on myspace, she's got her baby, he's doing fantastic, is a little chunk, and weighs about as much as mine that is going on 15 weeks...so, the breeder has released him!

And you know it's really funny that all my life dogs(big and small) went home at 6 weeks, and never had a problem with any of them..

Good for you, but you got lucky. I can't count the number of people who have come on here and are having problems because they got their puppy too early. They come on and post that they are having issues with either medical, behavioral, and/or training. Many people come on here looking for answers after they purchased a puppy too young and it died.

If someone comes on after they have already purchased a puppy too young, we will do everything we can to help. But it's just plain irresponsible to tell someone that it is okay to take home a small breed puppy at 6 weeks I don't know one single vet who thinks that it is okay to take home a small breed puppy at 6 weeks.

So tell me, if it is okay to take home a puppy at 6 weeks, then why are more and more states making it illegal to sell a puppy this young?

It is against the law in some states to sell a puppy younger then 8 weeks!!

Well, while I looked at this web site, they also have Preventing puppies from biting section and they say that 8 weeks of age is the age that puppies are usually separated from the litter..so they are contradicting themselves.

Also In a book called The DOg Bible page 72 third paragraph is titled Some Breeders Sell Puppies at 6 weeks---A big Mistake. It tells Why a puppy needs to be with the mother and/or littermates during the early development stages. The last few sentences say's....
In any case, information about the developmental growth of puppies has been around long enough that a professional breeder should know better then to send puppies out of the nest at 6 weeks --and they should know that they are doing the puppy and it's owner a disservice!

The site also states:
"This is the most dangerous time in their lives for parvo and other viral diseases. Their immune system is virginal and not very strong until at least 12 weeks of age"

Well, you're lucky. If all of your dogs have gone home at 6 weeks, how do you know going home at a later age causes any behavioral problems.

Also, in another thread you said you'd never known a breeder to offer more than a year guarantee and didn't think lifetime guarantees existed. Well, I guarantee that you aren't going to see any of the breeders that offer lifetime guarantees let their puppies go at 6 weeks - more like 12 weeks...maybe that's why you haven't come across any of them...

I agree, my mother breed Yorkies for many years. She offered a lifetime guarantee so it does exist. They could return the dog for whatever reason at any time for a full refund. Only one person ever took her up on it. She would not let puppies go before 12 weeks at the earliest. Sometimes she kept them longer if needed. She kept one tiny one for 6 months before letting him go. And many breeders don't have websites because they don't need one. They typically have very few litters and have a waiting list.
