I know Joyce, I'm not saying anything negative about you, I think you taking him was probably the best thing that could have been done, I just didn't want you thinking it was something you did wrong..I was agreeing, that most likely, there was def. something wrong with him to begin with...

Ohhhh nooo...I didn't take it badly...I was just agreeing with you....I think deep down, I knew that he was not going to make it....But I had to try..... Granted at the time, I thought it was my fault but later I was able to look back and see that I did everything possible... So no problem.... Sorry we took over your thread.... BTW Marshall was the only pup in this litter...

well, usually you start weaning them between 3-4 weeks(or thats what I did with my shih tzu's pups), anyway, a lot of times then, the mother does not have a lot to do with them..she's probably tired of messing with them...they should be fine if they're eating now...

Now, as far as my personal preference, I've had it both ways, the first one at 6 weeks, and the new one 11..I prefer getting them at 6 weeks, if they're eating well and are healthy...The one I got at 6 weeks was almost completely housebroken at 8 weeks, was already running to her pee pad then..The one I just got was doing fantastic on the pee pad for a few days, now she's back sliding..The one I got at 6 weeks was less of a chewer, than the one at 11 weeks...this is a very controversial thing..I just know I prefer them younger..guess it depends on a lot if you're home with them 24/7 also..and i was, so knew I would be able to make sure she was eating, drinking, etc..

| Lexie was 10 weeks old when I brought her home. The breeder was willing to let her go earlier, but I wanted to take some time off work to bond with her, and that was the soonest I could arrange.

Aubrey was 8 weeks, and the breeder said Dakota was 8 weeks but I think she was 6 or 7.
