Urgent Question I know this should go in the health/illness section but I need answers right now so I'm hoping someone can help... I just checked in on the pups and Mckenzie's upper gums/mouth area is totally swollen and puffy. She also seems to have a runny nose... She would take yogurt drops from me and didnt seem to be in pain but she doesnt want me touching her mouth so I can see what's going on. She's drinking water and had the treats, but I don't know what to do -- my vet opens at 8, but 3.5 hours seems a long ways away when I am so worried. What do you guys think? DH seems to think I'm overreacting but I just have never had this happen before...

Donating YT 11K Club Member | From what i read on google it can be an infection but im not sure. If she's acting normal and had nutrical i think she should be fine until the vet opens.

Thanks so much for responding. She's about 8 months. I finally got through to a vet who said as long as she's drinking and eating it can wait until morning. I just really paniced... ugh, these things always happen when the vet's office is closed.

I never even thought about it being her teeth, she's still teething so maybe that could be it. I hope it's something simple and easy to fix, poor baby

Ok, we took her to the vet this am and they said her adult teeth are pushing on her baby teeth causing the swelling. She needs to have 5 teeth out, but there's a problem -- She is going into her first heat and they won't do a spay until 4 weeks after that. They don't want to put her under twice in such a short time, so I'm waiting to see what the game plan is. She has antibiotics and steroroids to help with the swelling that she is starting tonight. I'm going to soften her food as well as give her wet canned food to make it easier on her to eat. Any other suggestions to make her more comfortable even though her poor little mouth is all swollen? We appreciate any prayers you guys could send out to us <3

If this is the normal teething she should be fine. and giving her something to chew on might help her loose the teeth on her own. they can spay during heat Most vets just charge more for this. I hope she is doing ok. Last edited by daisy mae06; 11-02-2007 at 10:13 AM. Reason: spelling
