| when did your pup start barking? dexter (14 weeks now) does not bark. i am definitely not complaining, but just curious if most yorkies bark as pups, or if it is something that they "grow into" Every other dog i have ever owned barked right from the get go, but one was a rescue that was beaten as a pup and barked at EVERYTHING (understandibly) and the other was a large lab. this is my first yorkie and im just curious at what age everyones little babies started barking. im hoping he never starts! |

| We thought we lucked out with Vinnie and got a more quiet dog, but at about 3-4 months he discovered his vocal chords and he's been quite fond of them ever since! We love the little bugger though. He was on the track to being trained to bark quietly and only at certain times, but he was left alone with Daddy too often when he was young and Daddy can't say "no!"

| Lucy found her voice at about 4 months. I have discouraged her barking so she has not become a problem barker. She will bark if there is a reason but not for attention, etc...

| I thought I had the most perfect puppy ever. He's dosen't bark how wonderful. Buddy was about 5months old and one night I was watching TV and heard this very low LOUD bark. I could not believe the bark that came out of his mouth. He barked like a German Shepard. Once he realized he could do this training begain to teach him how not too |

| So far Noah has been good at barking just if someone pulls in the yard and he and the cat hiss and bark every night at each other. The cat chases Noah around the house and this just thrills him silly. Go figure. |

i dont have any other dogs so he isnt around barking a lot, but he always perks up when he hears a dog bark outside or on a walk. if he does start to bark i will definiely be trianing him only to do so at certain times. i just wanted to know if he will start soon and when i should start reading up on how to teach him not to! lol. i love the little bugger no matter what, but i grew up with a pup that barked if we got up from the couch or moved too quickly and i definitely dont want that again! | |

| Mine didn't bark much until last December when I spent Christmas with him at a friend's house (he was about a year old). There were three very vocal dogs there and Archie "found his voice" while spending a week with these yappers! When I returned home after the holidays he let me know about every little sound he heard. He's not a constant barker, but he does love to use his little voice! I tell my friend it's all her dogs' fault!

| Pao started barking at 6 months old but is never a yapper. He barks just a few times and quiets down. He barks when I am holding his frisbee because he wants me to throw it.

| My little girl had a little squeak when she came home and at around 7 or 8 months she started barking. She does not bark much in public, just at the doorbell and dogs out the window. But she sure has one heck of a loud bark for such a small dog! |

| Bitsy is now 17 weeks and she's beginning to bark more. When I first brought her home at 9 weeks, she was very quiet. In the past two weeks though, she has started barking at the cats. It's not a constant bark, it's more of a "Play with me, kitties!" bark. She'll bark at the cats, run around in a circle, if the cats are ignoring her (like they always do), she'll bark again, do the circle thing. It's actually quite maddening. I usually move the cats to a separate room so Bitsy can calm down. |
